Mrs. Beverly Thomas, director of Northern Illinois Special Recreation association, will tell about plans for programs the association has for the summer. Dr. James Albert, superintendent of SEDOM, will discuss the idea of year 'round school and summer school possibilities, and tell parents what they need to do to make these possibilities a reality. Parents who have knowledge of camps and other options will share them. Anyone aware of activities open to handicapped children this summer is asked to share it with the group. Deaths ELIZABETH LEE Former McHenry resident, Elizabeth Lee, 88, died Saturday, March 4, at Four Seasons Nursing center, Elgin. She had made her home at 2802 Manitou Trail prior to ad­ mittance to the center. Mrs. Lee was born in Oslo, Norway, Aug. 8, 1889, the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Eriksen) Holm. Her husband, Ohar Lee, preceded her in death in 1936 as well as a daughter Mildred Berget. She leaves a son, Roy of McHenry; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Graveside services were conducted Monday by Rev. J.C. Bloebaum of Algonquin Congressional church following Sunday visitation at the Wait- Ross-Allanson funeral home, Algonquin. FAMILY SERVICE MEETING The Family Service and Community Mental Health Center for McHenry County will hold its regular monthly meeting Wednesday, March 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the McHenry area office, 3409 W. The sixth annual model car contest was held Feb. 23 at McHenry Junior High. Included among the entries this year were pickup trucks, vans and classic styles. Dan Novotny won first place fin- his entry of a 1978 black Dodge van displayed in a campground setting. The second place model was a 1978 white Pontiac displayed at a gas station built by David Ricker. A1 Horton, who constructed a red and black Ford van in a showroom setting, was awarded third place. The models were judged according to manner of assembly, painting and creativity of the setting display. The highest possible score ar model could receive was 50 points. Other entries were submitted by Bill Gabriel, Don Jourdan, Dan Ferbrache, Mike Dunford, Robert Neuman, John Armstrong, Robert Kirkland, Robert Heiser, Tim Harwood, Brian Brechel, Brian Thietge, Kevin Berry, Joe Cato, Bob Hawley, Steve Barry and Vic Romindine. Judges for the contest were Dr. Richard Farmer, Superintendent from District 15 schools; Bill Dodds, Principal from East campus; Ms. Jacie Smith, Psychologist from East campus; Lon Smith, parent; and, Tim Kelly from the Special Education district. Prizes, trophies and gift certificates were donated by local merchants and parents.
