To get everyone acquainted, it was necessary to find a partner by matching halves of pictures; then the partners ate together and became acquainted. The games played were fun and interesting, and were another means of becoming friends with others; par ticularly when guessing the personality from the written descriptions. A very fine potluck dinner was enjoyed by all, and the table decorations in the Easter theme added a very festive air. The beautiful birthday cake, all aglow with candles, honored Marie Mullere and the other February birthdays including Dorothy Yeoman, Mae Stinespring, and Florence Olsen. Marie did a superb job "blowing out the candles". Everyone enjoyed par ticipating. It has become necessary to change the date of the THE.OS. monthly get- together, so the March dinner and meeting will be March 29 at 5:30 p.m., when Dorothy Steinbiss and Marie Mullere will be the hostesses. Beginning in April the T.H.E.O.S. will meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist church. DEBRA A. FREUND MARK A. SCHULTZ FALL WEDDING-Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Freund of McHenry announce the engagement of their daughter, Debra Ann, to Mark A. Schultz of Ingleside, son of Paul V. Schultz of Lake Villa. Miss Freund is a 1975 graduate of Marian Central high school and is employed in Long Grove. Her fiance graduated in 1971 from Grant Community high school and is employed at a local utility company. An October wedding is being planned. P.W.P. Lists Family- Oriented Activities Parents Without Partners, Smile chapter, No. 189 will hold its next general meeting Friday, March 17, at the American Legion hall, Oak and Woodstock streets, Crystal lake. All first time guests are urged to attend the orientation session which begins at 8 p.m. Entertainment, refreshments and dancing will follow the meeting. Other activities of interest in the next few weeks are an in ternational dinner, family square dancing, bridge lessons, teen<-adult volleyball, and Easter Egg Hunt and an L.E.O. (Let's Eat Out). To be eligible for mem bership in P.W.P., a person must be the parent of one or more living children, and single by reason of death, divorce, separation or unmarried. Custody of the children is not a requirement for membership. Those interested may call 815- 459-5262 or write to P.W.P., P.O. Box 165, Crystal Lake, 111. 60014. Excellent Entertainment Is Offered Irish Night "Irish Night" will be presented March 18 at 8 p.m. at the Woodstock Opera House. Mel Bellairs, who is well known to local radio audiences, will be master of ceremonies for the evening of entertainment sponsored by the Woodstock Fine Arts association. The program offers Chicago area artists performing a variety of singing, dancing and in strumental music. Jimmy Boyle, who has been singing professionally for seven years in Irish clubs, pubs and coffeehouses, will be a featured entertainer. He also plays the guitar and the bodhran, the traditional Irish drum. He has been part of the Museum of Science and Industry's yearly program, "Christmas Around the World", in which he acts, sings and dances. He has also been on television shows featuring Irish music. The Susan McNamara dancers consist of children from Crystal Lake and Woodstock. Adept in their performances of jigs, reels and hornpipes, they enjoy learning and performing traditional Irish dances. The group is a second generation of the Mc Namara dancers of Chicago. Darlene Fiske and her daughter, Jennifer, are a popular local duo who have sung folk songs for many en thusiastic audiences. Ms. Fiske has collected folk music in trips around the United States and in Europe and says, "I am par ticularly interested in the Anglo-Saxon ballad heritage, but the Irish favor the rebel songs and folk love lyrics even more than the ancient ballads. The instrumental work is particularly outstanding and popular, while the traditional balladeers sing unac companied." Jennifer attends Illinois Wesleyan university where she has a scholarship in drama. Danny McGinn sings and plays the guitar at many of the Irish pubs in Chicago. He prefers to sing the protest songs of Irish history rather than the sentimental ballads often associated with Ireland. Sean O'Donnell is considered to be one of the finest accordian players in the area. The ac cordian is a popular instrument in Ireland and is used for solo work as well as for ac- companing singing and dan cing. Sean was born in County Donegal, Ireland, and lived there for twenty-one years. Martin McCormack, who was a surprise performer in last years "Irish Night" program, will again appear. Last year Martin had danced with the McNamara dancers and was not scheduled to sing. When asked, he sang two songs without accompaniment, to the delight of the entire audience. Martin, a freshman in high school, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Joseph McCormack of Woodstock. "Irish Night" offers all true or would-be Irishmen a chance to celebrate St. Patrick's day in grand style. GUILD DINNER St. Patrick's Ladies guild invites the public to attend its annual St. Patrick's day corned beef and cabbage dinner Sunday, March 19. The family- style dinner complete with dessert and a special beverage will be served from 1 to 4 p.m. in the church hall, 3500 W. Washington street, McHenry.
