Carbohydrates Your body needs a balanced supply of carbohydrates. Foods supply carbohydrates chiefly in three forms--starches, sugars and fibrous materials called cellulose. Starches and sugars, in turn, are major sources of energy for humans. Glucose, commonly called blood sugar, is the form in which starches and sugars are mainly used by cells to furnish energy for body processes and to support activity and growth. Wednesday Is Luncheon- Card Party Day A very festive day has been planned by the members of Lakeland Park Women's club for anyone who would like to % come to St. Patrick's church hall, 3500 W. Washington street, Wednesday, April 26. The club's annual spring Luncheon and Card party will begin at 11:30 a.m. Usual luncheon activities will keep everyone in suspense! and the new craft bazaar „ will enable you to purchase some lovely homemade items. Tickets will be available at the door. Do plan to attend. LAKE NEWS The McCullom Lake Con servation club will be holding a bake sale at a discount store in the shopping center May 13. As for the lake and the winter kill, we were very lucky this year, it's not that bad. State Biologist Harvey Brown will be out to shock the lake and determine how we made out this winter. The bass are biting, so get your fishing poles ready and get out on the lake. Happy fishing! ON VANDALISM We have been asked to write an article directed to parents on the vandalism that is oc curring in our subdivision : "Do you know where your children are and what they are doing?" If you can answer no to these questions, then most likely you will not be surprised with a complaint about your child. There are a few homeowners in our subdivision that have become victims of spray paint, egg, and broken mailboxes. On our beaches, the Lakeland Park Property O'whtf S association has to replace the equipment that is broken. This is quite costly and it comes from your pocket. This past week the electrical equipment was torn apart. Parents, please talk to your children and tell them van dalism hurts many, the thUd, the parents, and the victim of the vandalism. To everyone: if you see someone destroying property please call the police. If it is at the community house or the beaches please contact the Sheriff's police and a board member of the Property owners association". For those of you who live on the channel between Bayview lane and Sunnyside drive and issued complaints about the pollution of the water, the Department of Health has been out a number of times and has done a lot of checking. There is reportedly no raw sewage coming into the channel. Because it is a dead-end channel the water tested very poorly. The department is still checking septic systems along the channel where there seems to be faulty systems. Because of the extreme pollution of the water, they recommend it be filled in or/continued through to the Fox river to become a free flowing body of water. ROAD TO RECOVERY Many friends called to inquire about my oldest daughter, Sherry DiCianni, who underwent kidney surgery at Wesley Memorial April 18. The surgery was successful and Sherry is well on the road to recovery. Before repainting metal outdoor furniture, remove rust with a wirebrush and fine steel wool. Damp soap pads and a household cleaner will remove corrosion from aluminum furniture. When you plan a garage sale, ask one or two neighbors to join you. Each should cata log his or her items and place corresponding number and price on each item. Advertise for a successful sale. Ruggero. Sue Shahoda, Colleen Sweeney. Beth Thelen and Susan Wilcoski.
