Wonder Lake, told Sheriff's police that he was westbound on Route 120 near Martin road when the two deer suddenly ran in front of his car. Smutney said that he could not avoid striking the two animals. - A two-car rear-end collision on Waukegan road Monday afternoon was blamed on wet pavement by one of the drivers. Mathew Hermann, 1209 Hilltop, told police he was eastbound on Waukegan road when he saw the brake lights of a stopped car ahead of him. Hermann said he applied his brakes but slid on the wet pavement and struck the stopped auto which was driven by Philip M. Weiss, 2414 Chapel Hill road. Fish, 8021 Oakwood drive, was ticketed for failing to yield when turning left after his car was struck by a car driven by Frederic V. Dolby of Wauconda. Dolby told city police he was westbound on Route 120 when the Fish vehicle, which had been eastbound, turned left onto Ramble road. Dolby said he could not avoid colliding with the turning auto. The Fish car then struck a car driven by Charles E. Horst, 910 Oakwood drive, which was stopped at the stop sign on Ramble road. None of the drivers were injured in the incident. Aworc/ Contract To Reconstruct Intersection The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the award of a $369,680 contract to Lakeland Construction company, McHenry, for the reconstruction of the in­ tersection of U.S. Route 12 and Illinois Route 120, near Volo. The contractor expects to start work May 1, with an an­ ticipated completion date of Sept. 30. In addition to the work performed by Lakeland con­ struction company other im­ provements by Northern Illinois Gas and Com­ monwealth Edison, and Illinois Bell Telephone will be per­ formed at the same time. Quinlan, 2506 Villa lane, McHenry, High School Presents Children's Theatre McHenry high school will be presenting the children's theatre musical, "The Lion Who Wouldn't", May 6-7, in West campus auditorium. This lighthearted tale takes the audience through the ex­ plorations of a lion in search of himself; he has decided that being a circus lion is not the life for him. The children who are visiting the circus and the lion's attendant all help him live out his various fantasies; a teacher, a baseball player, an actor, a detective and a sea captain. The wide variety of scene changes demands quick character and costume changes and provides a challenge to all of the actors. The lion is played by John Michel, Allen Schneidewent portrays the attendant and the children are played by Lynn Lupo, Dennis Wilson, Linda Schiller, Don Donovan, Shiela Werner (the AFS student from Australia), Dave Lindquist, Darren Anderson and Tami Gunder. Accompanying the singers is Stephanie Karwacki on the piano. The show's director is Ms. Sandra Bonde, who was the technical director-designer for "Oliver". Spon­ sored by the Lake-McHenry Regional program, a lecture- discussion format is planned with guest speakers par­ ticipating. This program will be offered to all persons interested in increasing their knowledge about the cerebral palsied child. Laremont school is located on Gages Lake road, one-half mile east of Rt. 45 and north of Rt. 120. The conference will con­ clude at noon. Cerebral Palsy is caused by damage to the cells of the central nervous system. This irreparable damage in the nervous system interferes with the normal process of attaining the child's full potential in physical and educational development. Because of the damage, the child will have impaired muscular activity which will result in difficulty and-or inability to maintain normal positions such as sitting or standing and the' balance needed for these positions. Performance of normal movements and skills is also impaired. As these problems are now identified in infancy and early childhood, the challenge of developing efficient and ef­ fective treatment programs is presented to therapists and educators.
