Apparently someone forgot to tell the Nail as Old Bridge ronftped to an easy 15-0 win. / Keviiy Bauer, Nail manager, agreed that the Nail "cracked under pressure" as only three Rusty Nail batters, Dave Sundby, Mike Peterson and Ray Thelen managed base hits in the shutout. Doug Freund, leadoff batter for the Bridge, equaled the opposition with a perfect 3 for 3 with 3 runs scored. Steve Rohrer also had three hits while Joe Dehn drove in 4 runs with 2 hits. Ron Miller added a sacrifice to a pair of hits good for 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Greg Freund scored 3 runs and drove in a ToroRedTag SAVE UP TO $150. Only $999.95! It also marked the third straight loss for O'Brewery. John Griffith was the big gun for the winnefs as he pounded out 5 hits in 6 at bats including a double and a triple good for 4 runs and 3 RBI's. Kevin still won't tell. Six of the leading hitters so far this season are new players to this league. Ever wonder why McHenry Hospital's Bill Salmen chews his nails down lower year after year? In a more serious tone, St. Regis' loss to King's Row was played under protest. It seems someone incorrectly told the umpire in charge the pitching arc was unlimited. Although the protest was nullified, everyone concerned knows the pitching rule ... or do they? Doubleheaders scheduled Wednesday, May 31 include: Game of the Week: King's Row vs. Rusty Nail at Peterson Park; St. Regis vs. The Chalet at West Campus, South; Raymond's Johnsburg Bowl vs. O'Brewery at West Campus, North; and Old Bridge vs. McHenry Hospital at East Campus. " "It seems the Plaindealer likes ta give a rather lopsided viewpoint concerning the Postal Service. Since when can you buy one candy bar for the price of a stamp, let alone buy two candy bars! Look how much sugar has gone up. And why always pick on the Postal Service? How about the utilities? Their rate increases are more frequent and larger than the Postal Service. My utility bills increase by the dollar. Stamps increase by the penny. "Where can you com municate out of state, have your mail held while on vacation, or mail forwarded anywhere to a new address, all for the price of a few pennies? In fact, just what can you get for 13 cents or even 15 cerits today? Why even with the nickel you lost in the vending machine, you're getting a bargain! "Sincerely, "James E. Boger "4219 South Street "McHenry" (Editor's note: Your point is made! We have a few choice words about the utilities, too, but they just didn't happen to take our nickel > Speedy Owens In one college track meet, speedster Jesse Owens broke five world records and tied a sixth--all in about one hour's time.
