STAFF PHOTO-WAYNE GAYLORD Marian's Anthony Huemann And Tom Siciliano Plan To Attend Wisconsin - Stout Menomonie, Wis.--Two outstanding prospects from Marian Central Catholic High School, Anthony Huemann and Tom Siciliano, will attend University of Wisconsin-Stout this fall, according to head coach Lyle Eidsness. Huemann, 6'1", 185, who played on offense and defense was named his squad's most valuable player. He was selected to the all-area team and received special mention on the all-state's squad. ; Siciliano. 5' 8", 180, whose speed should help in the of fensive backfield, gained 1,000 yards in his sophomore year. Huemann plans to major in businiess administration and Siciliano in psychology. Eidsness, who accepted the Stout coaching job last season after being named Minnesota's high school coach of the year in 1977, has recruited heavily this spring to bolster a rebuilding program. "We expect Anthony and Tom and other top prospects like them to play a major role in our rebuilding plans, Eid sness said. The Warriors as a team batted .287 in 23 ball ;i;i games. D.H. Tim Frantz was the leader with a nifty .498 ;j> vaerage, followed by Jeff Meyers with .411. Bob ;iji "Cowboy" Adams rounded out the big three with _< a .389 mark. In conference play the Warriors hit .297, not bad for ijij a team that plays in the chill of northern Illinois. The Warriors fielded .955, committing only 33 errors for §j the season. There are two teams in Chicago that do that ijij every week. "Bear" Paulsen led the pitching staff with 7 wins agains only 1 defeat. His E.R.A. was a slight 1.67. Bobby Sharp went one better winning and losing 1, but a E.R.A. of 1.32. All in all the Warriors allowed the opposition less than 2 runs per game. Any time you can do that in baseball you are bound to be a winner. So :!;! congratulations are in order to Coach Ken Swanson and ig his band of mighty Warriors for a job well done. What a ijij: way to leave the North Suburban. A few more bouquets to be passed out, A1 Reinboldt and Mike Burman both qualified for the state track finals in §: Charleston this weekend. Mike qualified in both the mile and two mile runs, and A1 picked up his ticket to Charleston in the shot and discus. They will be headed down Charleston, way this weekend, and we along with all Warrior fans wish than well. The gals get into the picture, Debbie Freeland a catcher and Lora Jacobs a shortstop were both picked on the All Conference team this past season. They along with their coach Mary Osterman are to be congratulated for a nice |j job this spring. The girls' softball team, badminton team, and the thinclads all did well this past spring. With a lot of underclassmen on their squads, we look for better and brighter things in the coming years ahead. The Warriors are going to have to upgrade their outdoor facilities in the near future or are going to be the ghetto of the Fox Valley Conference. Spent last Tuesday afternoon at the County Track Meet at Jacobs High School and was completely amazed at their facilites. An all weather metric track was the first & item, a natural setting in a bowl like atmosphere, bleachers with steel seats, no splinters allowed, a huge concession stand below what seemed to be a mile long press box. Plenty of room for S.I.H. and then some. ijii Woodstock is putting in a new all weather track, Crystal f Lake, Crown, Dundee and Cary Grove all have similiar tracks. Noticed a big board with a list of donors to the Jacobs cause. Seems like a lot of the material and labor was donated by good hearted citizens. Maybe this will get someone to thinking of a similiar idea for McCracken Field; it is at least a possibility. Next week we will have the North Suburban All Conference team for you. They met last night in Mundelein for their annual meeting. Coach Swanson can ijij go to the meeting with a fist full of statistics that will be hard to beat. Winning the championship gives the big guy ijij one step in the door to nominate several for the honors. As i& usual it will be a dog fight, these types of meeting always x- end up that way. We are at least hoping he can get his xi share of boys on the team. They deserve it for the fine jiji year they had the past season.. GIRLS SOFTBALL McHENRY HIGH I The McHenry high girls softball team closed out tne season with a 5 to 3 loss to Crystal Lake last week. Eight errors proved the downfall to the gals.
