James Thompson's program to expand benefits of the circuit breaker program for senior citizens has passed the State Senate. The bill increases the income eligibility limit for circuit breaker grants from $10,000 to $12,000, allowing many more elderly and disabled persons to realize tax breaks. The Senate has also approved a $19 million supplemental appropriation bill necessary td fund this year's circuit breaker program. Some 50,000 more persons than expected applied for benefits this year. It is estimated that raising the maximum income level to $12,000 will allow an additional 40,000 more persons to par ticipate in the popular program. The circuit breaker program was enacted in 1972 to provide tax relief primarily for those living on fixed incomes.®* Your Best Don't be afraid to use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang except those who sing best. -Sentinel, Onawa, la.
