The bride attended College of Lake County and Harper Junior college and works for a lawyer in Lake Villa. The groom is a graduate of McHenry Community high school and Is employed in Crystal Lake. The July wedding ceremony will be written by the bride and groom with two original songs offered during the service. The bride will wear a bridal gown and veil made by her mother. LAKE GENEVA CRUISE The Woodstock Fine Arts association will sponsor an evening cruise around Lake Geneva Friday, June 30. The evening includes tran­ sportation on air-conditioned coach to and from Lake Geneva and a two-hour cruise which includes buffet supper with wine and music. Chapel Hill R<L, McHenry 385-8899 Club Members-Guests Journey To Wisconsin On Thursday morning, June 15, thirty-nine travelers assembled at the McHenry shopping center for a bus trip to Wisconsin. At 8:30 a.m. Lakeland Park Women's club members and guests boarded a chartered bus with Wisconsin as their destination. Stops were made at West Bend, Wis., where shoppers had an opportunity to purchase articles of their choice. Dinner was enjoyed by the group at Port Washington, Wis. The tour continued with a visit to a winery in Cedarburg, Wis., where the guests learned something about how win6 is made and aged, and received samples of wine along with crackers and cheese. Mary Lou Pautz and Sharon Gacek, along with Anne Moore, were responsible for making the arrangements of this trip. It is hoped that interest will warrant additional trips in the near future. Set Series Dates For Driver Refresher Course James Jansen of the McHenry Senior Citizens club announces another series of the Driver's Refresher course has been scheduled for June 29, July 6 and July 13. The first session will be Thursday, June 29, and Mr. Jansen requests that those participating be in attendance promptly at 9:45 a.m., at the McHenry city hall, council chambers. The second and final sessions will be at at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6 and Thursday, July 13, at the McHenry city hall, council chambers. Senior Citizens in the area who will be renewing their drivers licenses in the near' future are urged to take ad­ vantage of this free service as a refresher course on traffic signs, traffic regulations and other important facts. James Jansen can be con­ tacted for additional in­ formation. It is not necessary to be a member of the McHenry Senior Citizens club to avail oneself of this service, which is offered free by the club in conjunction with the Secretary of State's office. A summer recess from main activities was voted on at the Catholic Daughters potluck meeting of Joyce Kilmer Court No. 573 June 15, except for a July 6 officers meeting to set up next year's schedules, and, the monthly visits to hospitalized veterans will also be made in July and August. Members preferring a cer­ tain time they'd best serve as regular meeting or other event hostesses were asked to make it known to the regent before July 6, and thus be assured of a date convenient to their individual program. Prayers of grace were led by Open House Invitation For Golden Year Area acquaintances of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brusso, former residents, are invited to celebrate with the couple on their fiftieth wedding an­ niversary at an open house Sunday. June 25. The affair will be hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Brian Powers from 3 to 5 p.m. at their home at 7317 Chippewa, Wonder Lake. Lawrence and Eleanor Brusso were married June 22, 1928, in Valparaiso, Ind. During their 25-year McHenry residency, both were active members of the McHenry Moose Lodge and Mr. Brusso was a volunteer fireman and employed as mechanic at local business establishments. They are the parents of six children and the grandparents of twelve. The couple moved from the area in 1972 and are presently making their home in Delavan, Wis. Chaplain Reverend Dorrance E. Tranel, and an appetizingly delectable buffet was thoroughly enjoyed, as was his address on the theme of prayer - adding this time that its greatest obstacle is noise, and how to cope with that. Regent Mary Agnes ex­ pressed deep gratitude to Father Tranel for his devoted and regular attendance, and much appreciation to all her helpers and her 'special aide,' Bertilla. The evening's personable hostesses were Marie Larkin, Rita Martin, Nina Kinsala, Rosalie Doherty. and 'mother's Seni lor , Walk-In Center Meals are served Monday through Friday at the McHenry Walk-In center beginning at 11:45 a.m. Reservations must be made by 1:30 p.m. the day before at 385-8260. The bridal couple were congratulated by 180 guests at the McHenry American Legion hall after the ceremony. The newlyweds are making their home in Palatine after a honeymoon trip to Los Angeles. The bride is a secretary for a Chicago lawyer and the groom is employed as a mechanic for Fiat. The bride to the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Guettler of McHenry and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Bennett of Hoffman Estates. PAUL LITKE PHOTO Mrs. Esther Heard in­ troduced Mrs. Dee Hodgson of the McHenry county Emergency Services and Disaster agency as speaker of the evening when the McHenry Senior Citizens club met* recently. The program for the evening included the in­ teresting film "The Day of the Killer Tornado" (April 3, 1974) which affected eleven counties in Illinois. Mrs. Hodgson gave a most informative talk on natural disasters such as floods, tornados, and various kinds of storms, also on how well the area is protected by the "spotters" system, and good equipment. The motto "Keep Your Eyes on the Skies" will be remembered by all who saw the film and the devastation the tornado left in its path. The safety measures she gave will be very helpful hints in an emergency. Assisting her was her son, Randy. President Henry Rahn had called the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., at the V.F.W. hall, with 137 in attendance. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited in unison, after which the minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap­ proved. The treasurer's report was read, approved and will be filed for audit. John Doerr, tour chairfoan, reported that members at­ tending the Cubs game enjoyed good seats, good weather,and a very good game. He also reported that the trip to Dearborn, Mich., June 26, 27 and 28 is filled. The bus will leave the McHenry Savings and Loan parking lot at 8 a.m., returning the evening of June 28. He reminded members that Mrs. Giel is taking reservations for the bus-luncheon-Arlington race track trip Thursday, July 6. The bus will leave the McHenry Savings & Loan parking lot at 10:45 a.m. As usual a race will be named in honor of the club, and pictures will be taken in the "winners' circle". Mrs. Giel is also taking reservations for the Wed­ nesday, July 26, trip. The bus will leave the McHenry State bank parking lot at 8:45 a.m., arriving at Lake Geneva about 9:30 a.m. for a two-1* hour trip on the mail boat around the Lake. After the boat ride lunch will be served at Delavan, Wis. Mr. Doerr has another fine trip planned for Wednesday, Aug. 23, to the Fireside restaurant and theater at Fort Atkinson, Wis. The play will be "South Pacific" which has had quite a long run and has been extended until Aug. 31. The bus will leave the McHenry state bank parking lot at 10:30 a.m. Prompt reservations are suggested. Wednesday, Sept. 6 is the date of the trip to Belleville, 111., to the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. Those interested in a tour to Spain, Oct. 19 to 27, should contact John Doerr, as he has full information on this event being sponsored by the Ladies club of Charleston, 111. Mrs. Esther Heard's niece, Miss Pinter, has been in touch with Mr. Doerr on this trip, suggesting that some of the members might be interested, as the cost is quite nominal. The annual picnic for club members was discussed, the date is July 15, and the palce is the Johnsburg community club grounds. Members are to bring their own tables and chairs, and picnic lunch - coffee and cold beverages will be served by the club. Mr. Rahn asked for volunteers to help serve the cold drinks; - the social and refreshment committee will serve coffee. It was with regret that President Rahn read the letter of resignation of Frank Giel as vice-president. Nominations for this office will be made at the next meeting of the club, Monday, June 26. James Jansen has scheduled Dairy Banquet Set June 27 Seven McHenry County Dairy Princess candidates headline the annual dairy banquet, and the public is in­ vited. The local community will be represented by Elarie Sawallisch, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Sawallisch of Ringwood. This annual tribute to the dairy cow--and to the dairy industry--is sponsored for the twenty-fourth straight year by the McHenry County Dairy Promotion council, and will be held this year on Tuesday, June 27, at the Branded Steak House in Crystal Lake. The daughters of McHenry county dairy farmers have been making radio and television appearances, taking part in the judging prior to the banquet and enjoying the 1978 June Dairy month hoopla. Mai Bellairs, WIVS owner and well-known radio- television personality, will be back from his month-long vacation to the West coast in time to serve as master of ceremonies for this year's dairy banquet. STROKE CLUB MEETS The Easter Seal Society for McHenry County will hold a meeting of its Stroke club Friday, June 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Easter Seal Therapy center, Woodstock. Matt Rauen to exchange the commitments of marriage Saturday, June .17. A nuptial Mass at St Patrick's Catholic church at 3 o'clock solemnized the union. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy DeMarco of 4108 Jewel drive, McHenry, and the parents of the bridegroom are Mr.-and Mrs. Gerald Connerty of 1007 W. Oakleaf. The white bridal gown was fashioned with a square neckline, pleats down the front of the dress, and a full laced train and veil which swept to the floor. The bride was attended by her sister, Pamela DeMarco of McHenry, as maid of honor while bridesmaids included Cathy Bauer of McHenry and Roxanne Christiansen of Burlington, Wis. Vanessa L.
