The matchup, which was fast becomming a classic confrontation between the two McHenry softball leagues, would have been played July 6 V the VFW softball field Both All-Sttfr squads were picked on June 26 in anticipation of the double header in which both twelve- inch and sixteen-inch softball are played. After three years both leagues had battled to three wins each and softball fans of all ages enjoyed watching the "best" from each league play ball H o w e v e r , t w e l v e - i n c h representatives found out only an hour after voting that the sixteen-inch league decided to cancel the All-Star game Bernie Klapperich, sixteen- inch league president, not , "Thi was a late date to be making the decision." He went on to say. "The league's decision to change the format was based on circumstances surrounding both 1978 All-Star squads."
