\ Teacher Recognition Sunday K Lakeland Park & lakeland Shores Sharon Gacek 385-3777 Dream Vacation Realized With June Departure On Sunday, June 11, Lisa Bassett started heir dream vacation to Heidelberg, Ger many. Lisa left O'Hare airport on a jet for a direct 8-hour flight to Frankfurt, Germany. Wishing Lisa a "Bon Voyage" were sister Amy; parents, Homer and Melinda; grand parents, Spencer and Peggy Maggs; and Vivian Bassett. Once in Germany, Lisa will live with her Dad's sister, Hene Wiedeman. Aunt Ilene lives and teaches high school for the United States government in Heidelberg. Lisa's first letter home told of the differences in airports, going through customs, and her experience on the way from Frankfurt to Heidelberg on the Autobahn. Lisa explained there isn't much difference from a freeway, except that Germany posts no maximum spaiid limits so you travel at your own risk. Aunt Ilene's school term was still in session. So Lisa attended . the Heidelberg American high school for a few days The climax of the school year was to attend graduation at Heidelberg Castle Lisa remarked that the view from the castle which overlooks the city was beautiful The scenery and town reminded a Lisa of L'Anse, Mich., a town in the Upper Peninsula The streets in the nearby towns were so narrow that the people park their cars on the sidewalk Lisa has further plans of traveling to the Black Forest, Bavaria, Holland, and Swit zerland Hopefully, Lisa would like to visit France if the money market improves The Bassett's are looking forward to hearing of Lisa s experiences in the weeks to Teacher Recognition Sunday was observed recently at Faith Presbyterian church, honoring those who donated time each Sunday to teaching the youth of the parish. The teachers were presented with corsages during the church service which was followed by a coffee and rolls reception in Fellowship hall. There's An Answer (by Norman Vincent I Yale and Ktitli Stafford I'eale) -- She Works; He Raises Hell Q. I am 41 years old and the mother of ten children. I work hard five days a week and pay all the bills My husband don't do anything but ride up and down the road and get drunk and come home and raise hell at me and the kids He told me he hates me and would kill me if I try to leave. I try to do everything I can to please him, but it don't do any good. Please if you can, help me. A. We think your husband does love you but obviously he is a frustrated and unhappy man, seemingly without purpose. There just has to be a lot of good in this man that supportive helpfulness could bring out. Maybe he needs a strong wifely attitude from you, for perhaps your effort to do everything he wants indicates supineness, which is always irritating We suggest that you ask your local minister or priest to try to get your husband involved in something that will interest him and harness his frustrated energies. We have a booklet, A First-Aid Kit for Marriage, that has helped others solve problems such as yours, and a copy of it is on its way to you. Anyone wishing a free copy mi write to us in care of Box 500, Pawling, NY 12564. $ Need To Get Organized Q. Do you have any advice to help college beginners organize their time, life, studies and habits so they can keep up with their courses and get the mo6tout of college? I'm a 19-year-old (male) college freshman and I find it difficult to say "'No!" to my friends, and to stay home and study during the school week. A. Your problem is one of priorities, which every busy person faces. Decide what, in order of importance, is number one on your list of activities. Then stick to this priority. Otherwise failure will result, be it for college student, housewife or businessman. Stiffen up your resolution and learn the skill of saying "No" firmly but pleasantly if something is going to interfere with your top priority. Ashamed To Get Help Q. I have a delicate problem which I'm ashamed to consult with my doctor or preacher My husband is having sex with his sister She tells her husband she is going to Bingo; my husband lies also by telling me he is at his favorite club. I have proof of this, and as soon as I'm better situated I'm planning on separating. In the meantime, how should I cope with it? A. Firat of all you should, of course, consult with your doctor and your minister. They have the advantage of local acquaintance and therefore are better able to help you. Since both are professionals, shame is no factor in such a consultation. Yew have a human problem here which involves concern for two people engaged in repulsive wrongdoing and having the potential of wrecking two families. If your doctor and minister agree and you are sure of your facts, we believe your husband and his sister should be confronted with the matter. Try by every means to put a stop to it If there is something you would like to ask Dr. and Mrs Peale to discuss in this column, write to them in care of Box 500, Pawling, NY 12564.
