All are members of the Lincoln Cloverleafs 4-H club. Model railroading has become a competitive 4-H project at the McHenry Countv fair in Woodstock. This year the fair runs Aug. 2-6. Herb and Jan will be missed as they both were very active members of our community. Daughters Ann and Mary will be kept busy writing letters back to their friends in McHenry and getting ready for freshman year at their new high school. Baby Philip will keep mom very busy with helping her settle into their new home. Our best wishes to the Heritages' BIRTHDAY BOY Robert Gacek entered that wonderful world of the "terrible twos" Friday July 14 Robert is doing his best to live up to that terrible title, but of course mother always seems to spoil all the fun. On Sunday relatives gathered to celebrate Bob's day. Those attending were grandparents. Joseph and Ann Bielawski, Robert and Irene Desilva; godmothers. Adrianne and Patricia Mydlowski; aunts and uncles, Nora DeSilva, Virginia Mydlowski, Stanley and Helen Wrona, Eddie and Anna Puchalski, with daughter Vanessa ; Don and Rita Gacek with children Mike, Tracy, and Matthew, and Aunt Donna with friend Danny Gillespie. Sailing was available but the only adventurer was Donna. A very enjoyable "dry" ride all the way to the end when Donna jumped off the boat and splashed herself from head to toe. Bruce, just how many can­ dles were on your cake? ASSOCIATION NEWS The Lakeland Park Property owners association Newsletter should be in the mail, hopefully it will be in your homes by now. If you have not received it yet, please mark your calendar for the special meeting to be held July 30 at 4 p.m. This meeting will be about leasing the lake bottom to the Mc- Cullom Lake conservation club so that they may form a per­ manent master association to manage the lake. Pro and con arguments will be heard, and the association will be asked to vote. YOU'RE INVITED Everyone is invited to attend the Lakeland Park Women's club and Property owners association fourth annual family picnic. The Sweet Adeline chorus will provide a special highlight at the picnic with their melodious voices and charming dresses Games for the children and the adults are planned. Reasonably priced ham­ burgers, hot dogs, and roasted corn will be available from noon to dusk. Again this year the ever- popular auction will be held, and Ceil Serritella will be auctioning off the many items. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the remodeling of the community house, and the McCullom Lake Dredge fund. If you have anything to be auc­ tioned, contact a club member or bring it to the picnic. The Rescue squad has been invited and donations will be presented from the Lakeland Park Property owners association and the Lakeland Park Women's club. This is a fun day for all, so please plan to attend the picnic that starts at noon, and will be held at the Lakeland Park community house, 1717 Sunset. LAKE NEWS The McCullom Lake Con­ servation club held its monthly meeting Thursday evening and even with the inclement weather many people left their dry homes to attend the meeting. Pete Kasper wanted to know why people do not use the beautiful lake that could offer many people a lot of en­ joyment. Maybe people are unaware that if they belong to the association they can go down to the beaches and swim (Just make sure you have your guest pass or sticker, as trespassers will be prosecuted by having their car towed away.) The beaches have been given a clean bill of health in the last few weeks, even west beach has been given the all clear by the Health department. The swimmers itch has spent its season. The way to avoid swimmers itch is to stay away from the shore, the weeds, and towel dry after swimming and then go home and shower. If swimming is not your cup of tea, then maybe fishing or sailing, the lake has a very th< plentiful supply of perch, northerns. And as for sailir you can't beat our lake, „ rough water from large boati beautiful clear water. You ca travel on the lake and see th bottom from most locations I won't lie, there are weeds i the middle, and thfty are problem, but this year the have been very slow reaching the top, so the lak has been great for sailing.
