While she was standing before it her grandmother said to her from the next room, "Is the clock running, dear?" " N o , m a ' m , " p r o m p t l y replied Mary, "It's just stand ing still and wagging its tail." Plan Worship Workshop Miriam Kenna, Pastor Schneider and Ron Kot plan a Worship Workshop to be held at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, 404 N. Green street, McHenry. Many Lutherans of this area will be attending a congregational event Sept. 9 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church, and use the recently published Lutheran Book .of Worship. Leading the event will be the Rev. Wayne Tellekson as liturgist, James Johnson, musician, and Mrs. Carolyn Lystig, educator. These persons were trained for their leadership respon sibility during a workshop in -j --' v k * « ^ii \ * mi ^i» USTIC ARBOR April, when they participated in an intense study and in "experiencing" the new ser vice book and hymnal. This local event will give Lutheran congregational worship leaders the opportunity to discuss the rationale of the book and the theology on which it is founded. Considerable time will be devoted to the chief service of the church which is provided for Sunday worship, and to some of the new hymns. The Lutheran' Book of Worship has been published by the American Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church of America, in cooperation with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Canada, and is a result of more than twelve years of preparation. Included in the 960-page book are 544 hymns, new and old, propers, prayers, psalms, texts and melodies for the various liturgies. The liturgies are printed in two colors for ease in following. The last jointly published worship book was issued in 1958. It is generally expected that the new Lutheran Book of Worship will result in an in creasing renewal of worship throughout the church, a new interest in the meaning of liturgy, and in a deeper un derstanding of Lutheran worship traditions. Counseling Available For Vietnam Veterans The war in Vietnam has been over for three years and unless the serviceman chose to make that his career, most veterans of that period have returned to civilian life. However, some veterans from that war are having adjustment problems in shaping their futures. Donald Ramsey, director of the VA regional office in Chicago, says. Veterans of that era are more fortunate than their coun terparts from other wars because new laws have set up a special counseling service under the Veterans Ad ministration for their benefit. Ramsey said the service provides testing and evaluation of an individual veteran con cerning his capabilities and desires in planning his future. The service aids the veteran in selecting a profession or Job that will help him lead a rewarding life. Counseling on college, un dergraduate or technological studies is part of the program. Changes in courses after an initial change require coun seling before VA approval is given for specific courses. Counseling and information is available at the VA regional office in Chicago. Information may be obtained from veteran s e r v i c e o r g a n i z a t i o n representatives.
