SKi 1 ION 2 - PAGF.«- PLAiNDKALER - FRIDAY. AUGUST 11,1978 Mliillllii \ I I M I m xw m y>< 1 Aw m m 1 Inside Ike Scene With little action outside the burning summer residence of Theodore Gryczko, 5102 W. Shore drive, in West Shore drive, Plaindealer photographer Wayne Gaylord decided to enter the burning structure with fireman. # A moment later, there was the sound of an explosion at the photographer's feet and Gaylord quickly retreated from the structure. He later learned that the explosion was caused by a fireman who had dropped a large electric trouble light. Gaylord reentered the home and captured these scenes of firemen from McHenry Company One as they battle the fire. The fire caused an estimated $15,000 damage to the interior of the summer residence. A McHenry youth has been arrested and charged with arson and burglary in connection with the blaze. Heavy smoke hampered fire fighters and smoke ejectors were placed in open windows to rembve the dense smoke from inside the structure. The fire had apparently started in the back bedroom of the structure, with a flammable liquid being used to ignite the blaze. The entire inside of the summer home was gutted by the blaze. Firemen ripped holes in the ceiling to fight the fire that had spread into the rafters in the structure. The dense smoke made it necessary for a few of the men to go outside for a breath of fresh air before continuing to fight the fire. r Firemen remained on the scene for approximately three hours STAFF PHOTOS BY WAYNE GAYLORD < I <r
