Special Events Slated For Dog Lovers At Lambs PAGE 11 -PLAINDEALER FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER H, 197 The Lambs will be holding two special activities for dog lovers in September. On Sunday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Golden Retriever club of Illinois will be hosting a Specialty Match show. Beginning the following Thursday, Sept. 21, the Lambs' Pet shop will be offering its fall session of puppy training classes for dogs 6 weeks to 6 months old. The public is invited to watch the Specialty show Admission is free. The Lambs' Pet shop will hold its fall puppy training classes Thursday beginning Sept. 21, at the Heritage House on the complex near Liber­ ty ville The course teaches the basics of dog obedience and puppy care. The Specialty show and the puppy classes will be held at The Lambs at the junction of the Tri-State tollway 1-94 and Illinois Rt. 176 near Liber- tyville. The Lambs' program offers mentally retarded adults jobs, job training, housing and social activities. The Pet shop is one of eight centers which provides job opportunities for the retarded. The Lambs is open daily from 9:30 a m to 5 p.m Happy New Year To 4-H Happy New Year may sound out of place in the middle of the year, but in September the new 4-H year beings. 4-H is a group of boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 19, who meet together to learn new skills, develop leadership abilities, and to have fun 4-H offers youth a chance to grow through the activities and individual projects members participate in. There are over 200 projects members can enroll in, everything from arts and crafts to woodworking and one can create his own project in the "Do Your Own Thing" project. 4-H is tun because of all the new friends and activities. There is Share-The-Fun, where 4-H'ers make up their own skit, camping, judging contest, baseball, and the list goes on, 4-h has a place for everyone. 4-H is found wherever professional Extension per­ sonnel and volunteer leaders are available to conduct the program To get involved in the 4-H program, contact the local Cooperative Extension service office.
