I One child remains in critical condition following Monday's tragic bus accident on River road near the McHenry dam. A McHenry grade school district 15 bus rolled over after going out of control and striking a tree, injuring the driver and 43 children. Plaindealer photographer Wayne Gaylord and reporter Joe Dehn were two of the first to arrive at the crash scene. Members of twelve rescue squads, police departments and fire departments assisted at the crash site. Rescue squad members, police officers and civilian volunteers assist the more seriously injured, who were grouped along the road by a passing truck driver who was the first on the scene. McHenry School district IS Bus no. 9 lies on its side after striking the tree at left. Emergency personnel continue to render first aid to injured children along the side of road. Shaken up, but with no major injuries, these two children keep warm at the accident site while watching emergency activities at the site. An unidentified woman consoles one child as four others look on in disbelief and a pair hug each other. A concerned fireman watches over a small boy as he lie* in a rescue unit awaitiag transportation to one of the four hospitals used to treat the injured. Sheriff's deputies assist an unidentified rescue squad member and rush one of the many victims to a waiting rescue unit.
