NOVEMBER 17, 1978 IVr«i|H'ciiu' ENDORSING » TERRORISM >1 H \ K O W U ) K K \ < ; \ \ Socialists from around the world gathered in Vancouver, Canada, the other day to an nounce a new principle of modern democracy: it's all right to engage in violence if your objective is "demo- cartic ". Willy Brandt, the former chancellor of West Germany (you'll recall he resigned in the midst of scandals plaguing his spy-infested administration), announced this newly-minted "truth" to the world and en dorsed it, especially in regard tc Nicaragua and Southern Africa. I leave it to you to decide whether this amounts to a collective act of sappiness on behalf of the socialists or is part of a coordinated propaganda offensive. Either way, the result is the same: terrorists the world over will take comfort that their murders are "for a just cause". They needn't worry about protests from our government, either It has demonstrated as often as necessary these last two years that it wishes those who resist the terrorists (the moderates in Rhodesia and Namibia, for example) would just fold up their tents and steal away so that the terrorists can take over and "peace" cat? reign forever more. Mr. An drew Young and his patron in the White House would have us believe that to do otherwise would be to bring on the fearsome Cubans and Russians and would signal to those many non-democracies in sub-Sahara Africa that we are "racists". Yet, while Mr. Young relives in his mind the civil rights marches of the American South and Mr. Carter tries to chase whatever demons of racial guilt he has out of his head. Southern Africa goes up in flames. When they burn out we shall have not democracy but a new phalanx of Marxist states, much to the pleasure of the Kremlin It would like nothing better than to oorffrol the oil routes around the Cape of Good Hope and the mineral riches of the southern part of the continent The socialists in Vancouver and the adminstration in Washington are not the only ones to stand logic on its head Parishioners of two of the most influential Protestant denominations in the U.S. -- the Methodists and the Presbyterians - : are un wittingly donating money to SUBSCRIBE To The McHenry Plaindealer And Save s8.80 Over Newstand Price FILL OUT AND MAIL OR BRING TO: McHENRY PLAINDEALER 3812 W. NAME ADDRESS CITY ZIP MONEY BACK GUARANTEE FOR UNUSED PORTION" Joshua Nkonm and Robert Mugabe, whose Rhodesian terrorists are systematically butchering missionaries, children and other civilians. It seems that about the time Nkomo was boasting0 of shoot ing-^down an unarmed Rhodesian\airliner (his troops slaughtered the survivors) the World Council of Churches made a grant of $85,000 to the Nkomo-Mugabe "Patriotic Front". The grant came from a special fund, the "Programme to Combat Racism." set up,jn 1969 to aid "movements of the racially oppressed". To date, it has dished out $2.6 million. Most of the WCC fund'§. con tributions come from northern and western Europe (including some governments) and the U.S. More than half of all U.S. contributions come from the Methodist and Presbyterian churches and it is doubtful that most of their worshippers realize that a portion of their tithes and offerings are ending up in the hands of killers In addition to helping Nkomo and Mugabe, the WCC fund last year sent money to a South African guerrilla organization, the African National Congress. No matter how much individual Methodists and Presbyterians may dislike South Africa's "apartheid" <and it is safe to say nearly all Americans find it odious) do they really want to support a revolution9 The WCC also donated to SWAPO in Namibia (Southwest Africa), the group which has been working overtime to wipe out moderate blacks in order to insure its own domination of that soon-to-be-independent country The New Republic, the liberal journal of opinion, ripped into the cynicism of the WCC actions and its bland defense of them The New Republic made the point that "the claim that the grant is merely for "humanitarian purposes is transparently absurd". Oh. I don't knowl Imagine portly Nkomo and hi'c comrade, Mugabe, sitting* around the campfire sorting the. week's donations into two pilesC "Now this money is from the World Council of Churches an<£ must go into the pile for ban-T dages and food And, this one i£ from our vodka-drinking friends and we can use that for guns and bullets". The World Council of_ Churches is way ahead of those socialists who met in Van;-' couver By joining the Cubans, and Russians to create a trinity; of support for Rhodesian- terrorists and theif* revolutionary neighbors, it is', giving us the Gospel According to Karl Marx Save colorful summer flowers that dry well and hold their color for winter arrange-; ments.
