And its survival continues to be threatened if not now directly by man. then by animals introduced to the islands by man. This creature of reverential movement inhabits the volcaaic islands which have long been a naturalist's paradise of unique wildlife forms and associations and which are the subject of John Wilson's intriguing Audubon Wildlife Film program, Galapagos. Titled "Galapagos . the second of three wildlife fi lms will fx1 presented Dec 10 at the Woodstock Opera House at l 30 p ni Obtained through the National Audubon society, these films are accompanied and narrated by their creators The Audubon Wildlife fi lms are well known for their out standing quality John Wilson, who will per sonally present this film, was raised and educated near Montreal He began his photographic career in 1971 when he set out on a motorcycle trip from Canada to Ecuador and to the Galapagos Islands in order to photograph and study wildlife The eight month lournev resulted in radio and TV interviews for Wilson, and in his conducting seminars in wildlife studies and photography for various out door recreational, naturalist , and educational institutions In 1974 he returned to the Galapagos Islands to produce several programs for Canadian televisions The Galapagos consist of more than sixty islands scat tered over some 23.(KM) square miles of the Pacific west of the South American country of Ecuador They are the meeting place of cold and warm waters of converging currents that have brought species from many differing climates And because they are isolated by the surrounding waters, the landoriented species which have flourished there have done so through unique adaptation to the environment John Wilson will take his audience to Hood island, which provides the only nesting grounds for the Galapagos Albatross, to view the life cycle of this species as well as the courting and nesting behavior of the Masked and Blue-footed Boobies On another island, the famed Galapagos Tortoise will be visited in Alcedo Crater, in addition to the land iguanas and Galapagos Hawks Other species presented in the film are flamingoes and cor morants. gulls.
