After this check was thrown out and it was decided to retain Malsch for another month, the bills were approved by the finance committee. The first of McHenry county's alleged "booze ring" cases which opened in the Circuit court Monday, came to a sudden halt following the decision of Judge John Newhall of Aurora, the presiding judge in the case, who ruled that the entire jury panel called to hear the cases be discharged. FORTY YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of December 15, 1938) The Job F. Vasey home located on Green street, south of the high school, recently purchased by the Donald Hunters, was moved to a block and a half west on John street to a lot purchased from Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson. The ground on which the house was located is adjacent to the high school property 'and was purchased by the school board in order to extend the school property to take in the entire block. Anyone who frequents the local tennis courts in summer knows that they are very much overcrowded and it was to care for this matter that the school board purchased the property. A tennis court will be constructed on the site The following from McHenry have been selected to serve on the petit jury in the McHenry county Circuit court at Woodstock, which opens on Jan. 9; Mike Winkel, George Witt, Ben Justen and Donald Givens. TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Dec 10, 1953) Only memories of a long and colorful history remain after fire destroyed the Bridge Ballroom and tavern on Rt. 120 just east of the bridge early in the morning Dec. 11. Old time residents recalled the early days of the Bridge, then known as the Polly Prim, watching in the cold of the wintry night as the building was consumed by flames. Damage to the structure and contents was estimated by Fire Chief Harold SUMPS-TURKEY PUKHASE 3750 W. ELM ST. HOURS: MON.-FRI. 8-9, SAT. 8-7, SUN. 8-5 MCHENRY, IL 10-LBS.
