The property is located on the corner *pf Thompson and Wondermftre road, including Wondermerfe farm and 36 acres on Nippersink creek. A tentative appropriations budget amounting to $13,865,016 was approved by the McHenry County board in special session. Action on the final budget is expected at the regular October meeting. The McHenry City Council voted to pay a maximum of $45,000 to repair Draper road from Route 120 to Cuitan road. At its regular monthly meeting the McHenry County board adopted an ordinan& g r a n t i n g C o m m u n i t y Cablevision a non-exclusive franchise for a Cable TV system in the unincorporated areas of McHenry county. The city's program to dispose of sludge on agricultural land was inspected at the annual McHenry County Soil and Water Conservation district meeting. It was pointed out how the city is able to dispose of sludge under Illinois En vironmental Protection agency approval>The program adds to the \fertility of farmland and cuts down on city costs of sludge disposal. With a total tax collection of $800,906 from Retailers Oc cupation and Use taxes for the last three-month period, It was an abbreviated classilay at the new Johnsburg high school Sep. 11, the first of the fall season for 625 students, most of whom are transfers from McHenry Community high school. The major activity of a special City Council meeting was to plan ways to combat the ever increasing traffic problems in the city. A reduction in the density of the proposed RDG-Backhaus annexation proposal highlight changes the plan presented by RDG Vice-President Jim Berg. The original proposal contained 1,638 units on 380 acres. The density was reduced to 1,278 units. The new proposal reduces the density in the Curran road area. NOVEMBER A routine bus ride to school ended tragically when the bus went out of control, striking a tree and rolling over on River road near McHenry dam. The driver and forty-three children were injured in the terrifying crash. Beginning Nov. 2, McHenry retail stores will be open Thursday nights for the greater shopping convenience of their customers. This will prevent conflicts with the many Friday night activities in McHenry particularly during the warm weather months. A few of the stores will reamin open both Thursday and Friday evenings and some store hours have been changed.
