Therefore, start in the center of the floor at your desig­ nated right angle and, leaving the backing on your Sure- Stik tiles, lay a row of them out from this center point to the wall. If less than six inches of space is left from your last tile to the wall, shift your cen­ ter point six inches in either direction. Snap a new chalk­ line parallel with the first, through this new room center point, making sure the chalk­ line still conforms to a right angle with its crossline. Repeat this procedure along the other original chalkline and resnap a new chalkline if necessary. Re- check again for accuracy, being sure your new lines form an accurate right angle. This shifting of the cen- terline, when necessary, will improve the appearance of the floor and will eliminate cutting and fitting of small pieces. Now your installation is literally a snap! Remove the backing from each Sure-Stik tile just before putting it into place. Start laying tile at the center of the room, making sure that the first tile is square with the chalklines. Butt each tile squarely up to the adjoining tile, making sure that the corners meet exactly. Work out in this line, then go back and lay additional rows of full tiles until one quarter of the room is finish­ ed with full tiles. Repeat this procedure with each quarter of the room, and you'll have installed the main part of your new kitchen floor with beautiful, professional preci­ sion! To finish the borders, 'JAFSTAR™ floor tile cuts easily with shears or with a utility knife. For cutting around pipes, etc., make a paper pattern first and then transfer it to the tile. When cutting intricate shapes it may be necessary to heat the tiles first until pli­ able. (This can easily be done by warming them slightly over a hot plate or in an oven.)
