Q. What shall I do if I have a claim under my supplemental policy? A. File all claims promptly. With each claim payment from Medicare, you will receive an "Explanation of Benefits". If the insurance company requests it in order to deter mine its share of the cost, make a copy of it to send to the in surance company. When you send in a claim, write down the date you mail it. Keep copies of any information you have concerning services received, the dates of services and the person or persons who provided the services. Many large clinics will provide a special billing to be submitted to your insurance company. Make sure that you are provided with an itemized bill. This bill should include the date, type of service, and the amount charged for each service performed. There must also be a diagnosis, or "symp toms and complaints", for each item of expense. You can speed up claim handling if you make sure any required claim form is completed properly, that itemized bills are attached, and that copies of the Medicare Explanation of Benefit forms are submitted, if required. Q. Are benefits payable by Medicare or private com panies if I am receiving custodial care? < A. No. Benefits are not payable for custodial care. CROSSROADS There comes a time in every life When each must take a look At what has been and what is now And the future about to unfold. Each act of the past will react in the now And the debt of the future, I'm told, Is the story of things we did in the past And tried to forget in the now. So each must stop and look around Before he takes the steps That will mark his future in bold sure lines And never be erased. Louise Hipwell LOST LOVE Although the time has passed us by When close we might have been, And thoughts of love in our hearts was high Our time of once was then. We thought th£t we had lots of time In the future our love to share, Our love was something so sublime It would never leave us bare. But then we found that love passed by And when we turned around to look We found that we would have to try To find another nook. Unnourished love, like some young child Can never, never hold The cup of joy so sweet and mild It's the loneliest story ever told.
