Dr. Gary O'Berg, pediatrican, will be the featured speaker for the evening. Dr. O'Berg. Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, is a consultant for SEDOM and is a past member of the Perinatal task force for Health systems Agency of McHenry-Kane-Lake counties. He will discuss behavior and learning problems due to nutritional deficiencies, food hyper­ sensitivity with some emphasis on hyperactivity. The sponsoring group, SCOPE, is an organization that offers a variety of op­ portunities to enable persons to approach childbirth and par- tenting as shared and enriching experiences, SCOPE helps many cdpe with their important roles as parents, and strives to strengthen the family by of­ fering support, information, and educated approaches to birth and parenting. Prepared childbirth classes - SCQPK has attracted several childbirth educators, and through them is able to offer prepared childbirth classes to interested expectant couples. April 18 at St. Patrick's church hall. Tickets are now available for all club members. This Luncheon and Card party has been an annual event for many years, and heralds the spring season. It is always a gala affair, with lively table decorations and prizes. Business people are very welcome, and are given super- efficient service so they can get hack to work on time. Ryan David Christened At St. Patrick's Ryan David was the name Conferred on the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson of McHenry, Feb. 11, when he was christened at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Wearing a christning dress made by his maternal grand­ mother, Mrs. Beral Hennings of Grafton, Wise., and his father's heirloom baby ring, the child was welcomed into mem­ bership in the Christian communtiy. After the ceremony, a dinner was held in the home of the David Andersons, at which Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McKenna, godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Marv Hennings, maternal grand­ parents, and Mr. and Mrs. Sven Anderson, paternal grand­ parents, were all guests of honor. Resource League Activities Leith Honning, new president of the Mental Health Resource League for McHenry county, is shown above as she accepts the gavel from retiring president, Barbara Andrews of Harvard. Leith Honning, newly- installed president of the Mental Health Resource League for McHenry county, will be presiding at the Feb. 26 annual meeting and membership brunch, sponsored by the league, and taking place at the Grand Old Court Room of the Old Courthouse Inn on the Woodstock Square. The meeting will begin at 10:30 a.m. and a buffet brunch will be served at 11 a.m. Reservations must be made by Feb. 21. Membership in the MHRL is open to any woman who is a McHenry county resident. The Mental Health Resource League for McHenry county works toward earning monies to be distributed to McHenry county not for profit mental health agencies which request funds for various projects or equipment , and toward scholarships for students studying in mental health related fields. Annual projects sponsored by MHRL are Fair Diddley, which is held on the Woodstock Square in May and an annual fashion show, Country Couture, held in October. Presidents9 Dance For Club Leaders The Rainbow Ramblers Square Dance club of Wauconda announces a "President's dance" to be held Sunday, Feb. 25, from 6:45 to 10 p.m., at the Robert Crown Grade school, Bonner road, in Wauconda. Club caller Don Smith will be leading the dancers through the squares while George and Joyce Kammerer of McHenry will be cueing the rounds. Presidents of all Square Dance clubs will be admitted free, just be wearing their club president's badge. All square dancers are invited. In Spite Of Weather Dinner Dance Seniors Attend Well Held By Local Campfire Girls The McHenry-Wonder Lake Campfire Girls' groups comprised of seventy-five girls from ages eight through thirteen, recently enjoyed their annual father-daughter banquet. The event, which attracted about 150 people, including the girls, their fathers, and Campfire leaders, was held Feb. 11 at. Parkland school. After the dinner, the fathers and daughters all enjoyed a square dance. Campfire girls participate on three levels: Bluebirds, from first through third grades; Adventurers, fourth through sixth grades, and Horizons, seventh and eighth grades. Those involved earn badges, and participate in craft work and field trips. * • • e If the sun moved closer to the earth we could save a lot of oil. In spite of the repeatedly bad weather there were seventy- five members in attendance when President James Zednik called the McHenry Senior Citizens club meeting to order on Monday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m., at West Campus cafeteria. Wanda Zima, program chairlady, changed her program to accommodate the smaller group, and gave a Valentine party, which was a lot of fun. Those finding their partners, received prizes and got better acquainted while looking 4 Membership Chairlady, Amy Wattman reported three hundred and seventy-one members have paid their 1979 dues. A person should include a self-addressed stamped en­ velope if the membership card is to be mailed. Otherwise, it may be picked up at the meeting. The bus-luncheon-threater trip to Marriott's Lincolnshire has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 21. The bus will leave the McHenry State Bank parking lot at 11 a.m. Members having reser­ vations for the Covered Bridges trip on Oct. 16, 17 and 18. who have not paid their deposit should do so at once. Anyone wanting to cancel out, please notify Ruth Fradell as promptly as possible, as there is a waiting list. Betty Tuft, social chairlady, requested the ladies to continue volunteering to bring cakes for the refreshment period, as it saves a lot of time for the committee in telephoning. Refreshments in the Valentine theme were served by the social committee, and everyone enjoyed a social hour. The coffee line moved quite rapidly, as the attendance was small. All hope that on Monday Feb. 26. at 7:30 p.m. when the club has its next meeting at~ West Campus, the weather will be good so that more members can attend the meeting.
