(Don Peasley Photography) Private Systems Sewage Disposal Conference Public health officials, sanitary engineers and in­ dustry representatives from five states and Washington, D C., will gather in Champaign Feb. 26-28 to present the latest information on private sewage treatment at the fourth annual Illinois Private Sewage Disposal conference. . According to Dave Plocher, McHenry county Extension adviser, the program is geared to update contractors who install and service private sewage disposal systems, as well as health officials, sanitarians and sewage t r e a t m e n t i n d u s t r y representatives. The conference will focus on installation considerations, o p e r a t i n g a l t e r n a t i v e s , solutions to technical regulatory problems and maintenance, says Plocher. A West Virginia • sanitarian will examine alternative on-site sewage systems. Two specialist from the University of Ten­ nessee will explain how evapotranspiration can be used to dispose of wastewater, notes Plocher. Disinfecting wastewater with ultraviolet light will be the topic , presented by an industry, representative from California. According to Plocher, other industry representatives from Washington, D C., will give a wrap-up of wastewater facilities planning.
