VanKanegan, a junior in dustrial management major, was elected by a vote of the entire student body at Millikin and will serve a one-year term ending next spring semester. Millikin's Student Senate is organized to help formulate and voice student opinion regarding all university policies and to plan and coordinate student activities. VanKanegan, a 1976 graduate of McHenry high school, is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon social fraternity, is a Student Senate representative and is a member of the Student Ad missions corps. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack VanKanegan of 7104 Mohawk, Wonder Lake. Ninety-Second Birthday Visit Curly Skidmore, of our town, and her two sisters, Mildred Senkerik of Sunnyside Estates and Elsie Pacey of Wilmot, traveled to Salem, Wis. to help their Uncle Gus Frank celebrate his ninety-second birthday. It was an enjoyable day for all. Recent visitors in the Skid- more home were Stanley and Olga Johnson of Sharon, Wis. Three From Community With University Band serv About 175 Northern Illinois university students supplement their studies by marching in a band. Among them are Meg Humann and Marie Thompson, McHenry, and Michael Bazan, Wonder Lake. The NIU Marching Huskie show band consists of musicians, auxiliary squads, twirlers, color guard members and drill team members. To join the five-eyar-old organization, one must have good academic standing and be a full or part-time NIU student. In addition to regular per formances at NIU football and basketball games, the band has entertained at sports events across the nation. Director Michael Embrey boasts that the band performed at a Chicago Bears-San Diego Chargers game in San Diego, Calif., and an NIU-Long Beach State game at Los Angeles, Calif. Brothers Rate Honors LENTEN SERVICE The combined parish Lenten service will be held at the reenwood United Methodist church Wednesday, March 14, at 7:30 p.m. The sermon topic is •'What is the Difference? The Difference is Hope!",. VISITORS It was a family reunion for Art and Katy Christopher last weekend when all their children were home for a get- together. It was a happy time for all with grandson, David Linstad, doing the entertaining. BIRTHDAYS Happy birthday goes to Victor Hopp, Jr. on March 9, and on March 10, we find that Walt Bidlack will add another Jerry Pepping, son of Mr.and Mrs. Jack Pepping of 3105 W. Virginia street, McHenry, has made the Dean's list at the University of Iowa with an academic standing of 3.96 out of a possible 4.00. He is a junior in the College of Business and will attend Law school after receiving his degree. Marilyn Miller Earns Degree Roosevelt university president Rolf A. Weil awarded 463 diplomas at com mencement exercies 7 at the Auditorium Theatre. There were 242 bachelor's and 221 master's degrees conferred. Among those receiving bachelor's was area woman, Marilyn S. Miller, 1614 Rich mond road, McHenry, who earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. Norman Ross, vice president of public affairs for the First National Bank of Chicago and a well-known arts personality, was the keynote speaker. He addressed hhe graduates on "Education and the Total Person" after receiving a doctor of humane letters degree from President Weil. ThatIMp Guest: "This party is very dull. I think I'll leave."
