St. Paul Episcopal The 9:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist at St. Paul's Episcopal church Wednesday will be followed by Maundy Thursday rites in­ cluding a 7:30 p.m. solemni hfgh Mass and sermon. The Watch at the Altar of Repose wjfll continue from 9 p.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday. JOn Good Friday, there will be Stations of the Cross at noon, with solemn collects, prayers and Communion. I The lighting of the Paschal candle and renewing of Bap­ tismal vows will highlight the Holy Saturday ritual at 5 p.m. Easter Sunday services in­ clude Holy Eucharist and sermon at 8 a.m. and a solemn high Mass and sermon at 10 a.m. ^ St. Mary Catholic A low Mass at 8 a.m. Holy Thursday will be followed by the Mass of Institution and procession at 7:30 p.m. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will continue until midnight. On Good Friday, there will be solemn liturgy and holy Communion at 2 p.m. and in the evening at 7:30, Stations of the Cross and adoration. There are no public devotions scheduled Holy Saturday during the day. The solemn liturgy and the blessings will start at 7:30 p.m., preceding the Mass of Easter. Easter Sunday Masses will be at 6:30, 8, 9:30, 9:45. 10:45. 11 and 12 o'clock. The confession schedule is 4 and 7•p.m. Wed­ nesday, 4 p.m.Thursday and after the evening Masses; also Friday after the liturgy and after evening services and Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. only. The Good Friday liturgy starts at 2 p.m., with Stations of the Cross scheduled at 8 o'clock in the evening. The Holy Saturday Easter vigil and Mass will be at 8 p.m. Sunday Masses are at 7:15, 8:30, 9:45, 10 (parish hall) and 11 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. The communal penance service will be held at 8 p.m. at St. Patrick church on Wed­ nesday. Faith Presbyterian Faith Presbyterian church has planned several special lenten programs for Holy week. On Maundy Thursday, April 12, a family potluck dinner will be held at 6:30, followed by a service of Holy Communion at 7:30. In the 7:30 communion service, the newly formed Drama guild, under the leadership of Maribeth Karas, will present a play entitled: Oh the Need of Forgiveness. In the Presbyterian church, Com­ munion is open to any person who is a Christian, whether or not he is a Presbyterian. On Good Friday, the congregation will be having a joint service with Mt. Hope and First United Methodist chur­ ches beginning at 7:30. The service will feature the com­ bined choirs of the three congregations and .the traditional candlelight reflection on Light and Darkness. The Rev. Eric J. Snyder of Faith church will be presenting a brief homily. On Easter Sunday a sunrise service will begin at 6 a.m., to be followed by communion served around tables. Break­ fast will follow and the singing of hymns. The second service will begin at 10:30 and will feature music from John 0 t t dfl TP x * A Peterson's magnificent can­ tata, It Took a Miracle. The 23- voice choir is directed by Allan Cook. Newcomers to McHenry are invited to join in these inspiring services. Faith Presbyterian church is located near the outdoor theater on the east side of the river at the corner of Lincoln and Chapel Hill roads. Shepherd of the Hills Six special services have been planned at Shepherd of The Hills Lutheran church, 404 North Green street, McHenry, during Holy week. A Maundy Thursday service of Holy Communion will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A Good Friday Tenebrae service in the form of a cantata produced by the senior choir will take place Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Tenebrae service or service of shadows will progress with various lights being ex­ tinguished in the sanctuary at different times during the service until at the end of the service the only light appearing in the church will be the light on the cross. The senior choir is under the direction of Norman Mac- donald, Jr., and is ac­ companied by Rosemary Schneider. Actress Yvonne Alton will present the thoughts of Mary the Mother of Jesus at the foot of the cross during the Tenebrae service also. The congregation will leave the sanctuary in semi-darkness to contemplate the light and joy of Easter. An Easter eve Communion service will be held Saturday at 5 p.m. On Easter morning, and Easter sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m., and an Easter morning Communion service will also be held at 8:30 a.m. An Easter morning Festival Communion service will be held at 10:30 a.m. The Luther League or youth group of the church will provide an Easter breakfast for the congregation after each of the Sunday morning services. An Easter Lily cross will adorn the sanctuary for the special services. Members of the community are invited to at­ tend all of the Holy Week services. The senior choir, directed by Norman Macdonald, Jr., and the youth choir, directed by Rosemary Schneider and Kristin Stuhr, will provide special music for all six wor­ ship services. Pastor Roger Schneider will speak on the theme, "The Eyes of Faith Reveal God's Mysteries!" Maundy Thursday. The sermon theme for the four Easter services will be, "What«Are We Searching For?". David R. Betts, 2521 W. Johnsburg road, told Sheriff's police he was southbound on Riverside drive when he lost control of his truck on the icy road while trying to adjust his radio. The truck left the roadway and went into the ditch, striking a culvert. Dale M. Franklin, 4905 Home avenue, was ticketed for disobeying a no-passing zone following a two-car collision on Route 120 Saturday evening. Ms. Franklin was reportedly passing an auto as it turned into a private drive, when she saw an approaching car ahead. The driver of the oncoming car, Jeffrey A. Vickery, 6411 Roundup road, told police he saw the Franklin car in his lane as he came over a hill, and could not avoid a collision. No injuries were reported in the crash Cindy A. Rasbaugh, 2507 Highwood, was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident following a two-car accident Thursday afternoon. Carol E. Behreldt, 2907 Spring, told police she was westbound on McCullom Lake road, and stopped to turn onto Spring road when her car was struck from behind by the Rasbaugh vehicle. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash. Deaths CARL W. BERGSTROM Carl W. Bergstrom, 91, of 5217 Parkview, McCullom Lake, died Friday, April 6, in Memorial hospital for McHenry county, Woodstock. He was born Oct. 28, 1887, in Denmark, and came to this country in the early 1920's. He was affiliated with Johns- Manville company, Waukegan, for over thirty years. The deceased was a member of the Viking Lodge, Lodbrok Lodge no. 47, Waukegan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian, in 1954; by his second wife, Lynda, in 1971; and by his son. Arthur, in 1973. Visitation was Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of ser­ vices at 1:30 p.m. at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home. Pastor Roger W. Schneider of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran church con­ ducted the service. Interment will be in Pineview cemetery, Waukegan. Memorials may be made to the McHenry area rescue squad. LORETTA QUINN Loretta Quinn, 69, of 3107 Route 120, died suddenly Monday, April 9, in McHenry hospital emergency room. She was born April 29,1909, in the Kankakee area, the daughter of James and Er­ nestine Fraser Quinn, and was affiliated with St. Patrick's parish, McHenry. The deceased was employed by th^ state of Illinois Public Aid diVision for the Chicago office, j She' is survived by her brother, James. Her parents and other relatives preceded her in death. Visitation was Tuesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the George R. Justen and Son funeral home. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered by Father Petit Wednesday at St. Patrick's at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. P a t r i c k ' s c h u r c h y a r d cemetery. VIVIAN S. BOULEY Vivian S. Bouley, frequent visitor to the McHenry area, and aunt of R. C. Raven, Earl Raven, and Stanley Raven of McHenry, died March 14 in Utica, New York. She was born Nov. 5, 1886, in Governeur, New York. She moved to Utica in 1952. Survivors include two daughters in New York; her three nephews in McHenry, and a nephew, Clifford Raven, Crystal Lake; two nieces, Mrs. Herman (Vivian) Feltz, McHenry, and Mrs. Vernon (Clara) Maynard of Arizona; and great niece and nephew, Charles and Marguerite Net­ tles, McHenry. BERTHA W. KOENIG Bertha W. Koenig, 88, of Stuart, Fla., and formerly of McHenry, died Monday, April 9, in Sunset Manor, Woodstock. MARGARET DIXON Mrs. Margaret Dixon, 85, Jacoby subdivision, McHenry, died Saturday, April 7, in Condell Memorial hospital, Liberty ville. She was born Oct. 1, 1893, in Germany. She is survived by a daughter, Olive Moore, McHenry; six grandchildren, and twenty great­ grandchildren. Visitation was held from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Mackey funeral home, Island Lake, where services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial was private.
