SECTION" 2 • PA(iF 7 - PI.AINDEAI.KR - WEDNESDAY. Al'Kll. 11,1979 Thursday, April 5, marked the beginning of the 104 season in the National I-eague for the Chicago Cubs. Over 33,000 people braved the windy, cold weather to view the contest, which was sold out weeks in advance. Among those groups attending Wrigley field for the game, which the Cubs lost 10- 6 to the New York Mets, was a group of 35 from the Old Bridge Tavern in McHenry (directly above). At left, is a picture of the right field bleacher section, and across the street, people line a rooftop to catch a glimpse of the action. At right, is the view some fans enjoyed from the centerfield bleachers, below the scoreboard. Below, new Cub second baseman Ted Sizemore thrills some of the younger fans who arrived at the ballpark hours before the game began by signing autographs.
