Lakemoor Margaret Karas -Lilymoor 1385-4934 Insurance Stalls Lily Lake Club's Conservation Work Insurance is the number one roadblock to putting the big machine into the now beautiful waters of Lily Lake. At the Lily Lake Conservation club meeting last Wednesday, suggestions were made by Herb Fritzsche, George Gar- bacz and Bruno Karas as to ways to get coverage. It is an expensive, troubling problem facing those of us who are working towards the goal of a healthy enjoyable Lily Lake. The progress of the current fund raising effort was reported on by Mike Nejedly. Mike can be reached at 385- 2517, or contact any board member. The beautiful white crocheted lacey afghan made by that lady of many talents, Louise Hipwell, and the cakes created and donated by Paul Starzyk, that are really works of art, are helping the Save Lily Lake effort. The work of these talented people is appreciated, as is the monetary support of all. RECUPERATING Doug Alheit is home on the inactive list, following a heart problem the first week in April. Doug has been one of the workers building the dyke for the Lily Lake project. It comes as a shock when a big, strong man has to be restricted in activity due to health. We hope it won't be much longer, Doug, before you are back in full strength. Bob Hurley is also home recuperating after a ten day hospital stay. Bob is the membership chairman of the Lily Lake Conservation club, so his activities there have also been curtailed. He would ap preciate some willing hands to help with his responsibility to the "Save Lily Lake" cam paign. And some hands folded in prayer would also help. Good health is wished for all neighbors. IS SIGHT A PROBLEM? Large print books are now available at the McHenry Nunda Library on Lily Lake road. Titles include "The Hiding Place" by Corrie ten- Boom, the true story of a courageous family in Holland during the Nazi occupation, and how faith carried them through the countless horrors. Also available are romances, mysteries and western ad ventures. Any one in our area with a need for "Talking Books" or books in braille, can receive them through the library. This is a free service sponsored by the federal government, which enables all persons with vision problems or other handicaps, to have access to the enjoyment and enrichment of printed materials. Call 385-6303 for information. SCHOLASTIC HONORS Montini school's honor roll this period included Ruth Pierce and Anthony Gurske. Anthony's name had been omitted in the original listing. The efforts of our young people should be recognized and en couraged. a - * ' RIBBON TIME Sunday, April 8, was a good day for Maureen Paroubek at the dog show in Decatur, sponsored by the Sandemac Kennel club. Lisitza's Kaye Dee, a Doberman pinscher raised and shown by Maureen, won a first place in the open female class, and a reserve winner. Maureen had taken Kaye Dee to the International Am phitheater dog show in March. Being put in competition with older, more experienced Dobermans gave Kaye Dee exposure, but no prize. With both novice handler Maureen and Kaye Dee becoming more expert, more honors can be expected from this duo. Daisy and Charles Nettles are also very active in canine competition. They raise and show poodles primarily, but this weekend finds their Pomeranian in the Lake Shore show. Charles also judges, specializing in all toy breeds, non-sporting breeds and some working breeds. <Daisy and Charles are very active in a Poodle club, and have made many friends traveling as far as New York and Canada with their dogs. Charles is also the vice-president of the Lily Lake Conservation club, so they have a very busy schedule. CELEBRATION TIME Birthday wishes go to Florence Mixj mother of Gloria Cassell, grandmother and great-grandmother, on April 18. The nineteenth is party time for Marina Mumma, who will be three. "Missy" enjoys spending time at the McHenry Nunda Library with her brothers Stephen, • Chris and Scott, who will really enjoy helping Missy eat her cake. There might even be some left for Gramma and Grampa Hueckstaedt. April 23 is Pearl Zabroski's day to celebrate. May all birth day people have a beautiful day. Edna and George Garbacz celebrate their anniversary April 22. George is the planning commission chairman, and Edna is a Lakemoor village trustee. Also enjoying an an niversary are John and Toni Victor on April 24, their thirty- second year of togetherness. Happiness and good health is wished for you all. CONDOLENCES Frank Tesar, Sherill Weber's father, died at the Veterans hospital on April 11. He had been ill, and also suffered from the results of an auto accident on 1-90. Our sympathy goes to Sherill, Jerry and their three sons, Donald, Danny and David. BUSY WEEK With the completing of in- Mr Hi \RN . Pi Y' \ i>i V. Can you help them? If you know any former Ladles, or if you're one yourself, please contact Bar bara Reiter or Irene Johnson right away! The Ladies of the Lake will be celebrating their twenty-fifth anniversary in June, and are planning a very special meeting for the night of June 14. Somehow, somewhere over the years, records of the club's first years of existence have been lost, and therefore no one knows who the charter members are, who the first and subsequent officers were, or how the club was run in the early years. President Barbara Reiter is very anxious to track down either these records or information to help piece things together. If you know of a former Lady come tax returns, the school board elections, the Lakemoor trustees elections, the cleanup trash time in Lakemoor, and recovering from winds and rains, this has been a busy time. And a blessed time with the reliving of the resurrection of our Lord. May the meaning of Easter continue in all our lives, with a rebirth in un derstanding, brotherly love, and commitment. In seeing the beauty surrounding us following this weary winter and slow-to-develop springtime, His love is apparent. GOD BLESS of the Lake who would be in terested in sharing in the silver anniversary, but would be unable to attend because of distance or health, perhaps she would like to write a letter to the ladies, telling about her activities since leaving the club. The letters can be ad dressed to Ladies of the Lake, in care of Barbara Reiter, 2917 N. Knoll wood drive, McHenry, 111., 60050. Any information you have is probably needed by the club, so don't hesitate to call. The last meeting of the club was held on Thursday, April 12, and a plant auction was con ducted. Twelve ladies attended the meeting, and enjoyed the auction, taking lots of lovely plants home with them. The next meeting of the Ladies of the Lake will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 8 p.m. at the beach house, and will be the club's annual white elephant sale. IN MEMORIAM Carl Bergstrom, who just a month ago moved from our PAGE 5 • PLAINDEALER village, passed away at Memorial Hospital in Wood stock on April 6. Carl had many friends in the village, and will be missed. LOST If anyone has seen a medium sized, brown and beige Siamese cat wandering around, please call Mrs. Robert Fernandez. Her grandson, Eric, misses the cat, who is his constant com panion. The cat, by the way, is a male.
