Pictured with Dr. Duane Andreas, left, and William Hayes, right, is the president of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Richard F. Whitmore, at the breakfast honoring new NCA institutions at the eighty-fourth annual meeting. Whitmore is president of Kellogg Community college, Battle Creek, Mich. Principal William Hayes has aneunced that Johnsburg Community Unit School District 12 has received full accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The school was admitted into NCA mem bership at the association's annual meeting held earlier this month. Johnsburg school was one of twenty-two in Illinois that attained NCA membership this year for the first time. "Accreditation by the NCA means that the school has met the rigorous standards set for membership", said Principal Hayes. "These standards, which are established by more than 4,400-member schools of the Commission on Schools, signify that the school has the resources, personnel and leadership necessary as preconditions for effective education." Accreditation by the NCA must be renewed each year, based on the objective con ditions existing with the school. In commenting upon this, the superintendent of schools, Dr. Duane D. Andreas, stated: "Continuation within the NCA requires a joint effort by the community and the professional educators to make certain that the potentiality for quality education remains unimpaired. The advantage of NCA membership is that it assures Ihe public at-large that the school has met those standards which good schools in the NCA region consider to be imperative for effective education to take place." NCA state chairman, Dr. John S. Kemp of the University of Illinois, extended his congratulations to the school, noting that "Johnsburg school now has joined the growing league of fine schools whose purpose is the continuing im provement of education." Principal Hayes and Dr. Andreas were present in Chicago as representatives of the school when it was admitted to membership. Hayes said, "In addition to the ac creditation of schools, the NCA annual meeting program provides sessions on the many changes taking place in education. This year's program featured more than 120 dif ferent programs on a wide range of educational topics. It's SERVICE NEWS Promotion For Michael White Marine Lance Corporal Michael D.
