APRIL 27,1979 Fill VFW Auxiliary Posts Mary Kuemmel, president of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars post 4600 called a special meeting Thursday, April 18, for the purpose of electing officers for the year 1979-80. The members who will serve the auxiliary are Mary Fergen, president; Eva Snell, senior vice-president; Sue Wallace, junior vice-president; Ila Hogan, treasurer; Frances Nells, chaplain; Claudette Kennedy, conductress; Sally Bujak, guard and Mary Kuemmel, three-year trustee A joint installation with the post and auxiliary is planned to take place on Sunday, May 27, at the post home. Registration Open For Girl Scout Summer Camp HOLD FASHION REVIEW - Sponsored by the McHenry hospital Auxiliary, a fashion revue highlights a fund raising event in behalf of the hospital. These are the men and women who,modeled to make the parade stylish and timely. DON PEASLEY PHOTOGRAPHY All girls from third grade through high school are invited to register for twelve excit:ng days of summer fun at Camp Pokonokah Hills. The camp owned and operated by the Sybaquay Girl Scout Council offers a fun-filled and meaningful program for girls. Pokonokah Hills is located in northwestern Wisconsin. Swimming, boating, canoeing, sailing, arts, craft and nature study are but a few of the ex­ citing program opportunities. Junior high and high school age girls can register for specialized program such as extended canoe and bicycle trips and junior leadership programs. Four twelve day sessions will be offered beginning in June. Information and registration forms are available at the Sybaquay Girl Scout Council, 15 Ziegler Ct., Elgin. 111. 312-741- 5521 Speaks To THEOS On Money And Investment RECIPE After enjoying a very delicious dinner the T.H.E.O.S. group went to the First United Methodist church for the April program. Mr. William Bussee, a vice-president of a bank in McHenry, gave a most in­ teresting and informative talk on "Finances and In­ vestments." He answered the many, many questions asked, and gave some very much appreciated advice and suggestions. T.H.E.O.S. is a non- denominational group for widows and widowers, very warm and casual, with no age restrictions, meeting the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at a designated local restaurant for dinner, and then going to the First United Methodist church for the program and an evening of fun and fellowship. The next meeting will be on Monday, May 21, and the group will meet at 5:30 p.m., at the Busy Bee restaurant, 4621 West Route 120 for dinner, and will then go to the First United Methodist church for the meeting and program Betty Fairchild and Mae Stinespring will be the hostesses. All widows and widowers are most welcome, and for any further information desired contact Mae Strinespring or Lyda Radisch. Friendship Club Gives Egg CQloring History The April meeting of the Friendship club began with a most delicious potluck dinner enjoyed by all, after which Evelyn Smith had the program. She gave a most interesting talk on the "Origin of Easter Egg Decorating" and also gave the Bible story of the "Resurrection". Pastor Smith gave a brief report on the progress of the building committee. There was some discussion regarding changing the meeting time to 5:30 p.m. and this was tabled until the May meeting. It was moved and seconded to send a donation to help sponsor a student to the summer music camp. Evelyn at the piano, and Elver Wendlandt as the leader, resulted in the singing of many of the old favorite songs of the group, which is always en­ joyed. The next meeting of the Friendship club will be Saturday, May 12 at 6 p.m., at the First United Methodist church, when Bernice and Don Corby will have the program, and the hosts and hostesses will include Grace and Adolph Borchers, Mae Stinespring and Norma and Frank Pieplow. The meat committee will consist of Bertha and Elmer Stange, Cleda and Leonard McCracken, Lyda Radisch, Florence Berggren, Bernice and Don Dorby, Helen and Harry Lundy, Mary and Herbert Rosem, Cecilia Richards and Laura Norton. Pork Chops 1 envelope spaghetti- sauce mix with toma­ toes 1 4-oz. can mushroom buttons Vi t seasoned salt '/« t seasoned pepper 2 T salad oil 6 loin pork chops, each Vi inch thick , 1 8-oz. package Moz- zarella cheese, cut into 6 slices 1 small green pepper, diced In bowl, combine spa­ ghetti-sauce mix, l'/j cups cold water, undrained mush­ rooms, seasoned salt and pep­ per. In large skillet, in hot salad oil. saute chops until golden. Pour off oil; add spaghetti- sauce mixture: simmer, cov­ ered, 40 minutes or until fork- tender, stirring occasionally. Add green pepper to sauce; simmer, covered, 10 minutes. Top each chop with cheese slice. Heat until melt­ ed. Makes 6 servings. AFRICAN VIOLET SHOW The Barrington Bloomers African Violet society is sponsoring a judged African Violet show May 5 and 6 at Crystal Point Mall during mall hours. It is open to the public. Senior Choir Of Church In Concert Sunday, May 6, at 4 p.m. has been set for the concert to be presented by the senior choir of the McHenry United Methodist church in the sanctuary of the church at 3717 W. Main street. Directed by Bill Toalson, the choir will sing favorite hymn selections, spirituals, songs from a Neil Diamond medley and a George M Cohan medley. There will be solos, duets and selections by the women's ensemble and men's group. Tickets are on sale at the First United Methodist church office.
