Pi Alpha Group Inducts Mimber This month's meeting of Pi Alpha, a chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, an international social sorority, was held at the home of Linda Thietje. A pledge ritual was given to Karen Etten. Nora Seifert, a new member in the Pi Alpha chapter, was welcomed with the traditional Ritual of the Jewels. This was followed by a social hour. Founder's Day dinner was held April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at a restaurant in Crystal Lake. Present May Fellowship Day United will hold their annual May Fellowship Day Friday, May A, at the Presbyterian church in Woodstock. The program will begin at noon with a salad buffet luncheon. The speaker for the day is Dr. John Nehr,a professor of child psychology at Elgin Com­ munity college. His topic is "Our Children, Our Promise." This luncheon is also the customary collection of the fellowship of the least coin. Participants give their least coin, a penny, as they join in prayer with other Church Women United groups around the world. There will be a babysitter for young children and mothers are asked to bring a sack lunch for each child. National^Qlder Americans Month Celebrated In May "This will be the seventeenth year thay Older Americans Month": is celebrated throughout the United States and its territories", said Marge Jones, executive director of the McHenry county Senior Citizens Council. Older Americans Month is traditionally a time used by national, state, and community officials, agencies, and the private sector to honor older Americans for their achievements and to open new opportunities for improvement of their health, well being and happiness. The theme for this year's Older American's Month will be: "Enjoy Better Health Through Better Care", con­ veying the idea that older Americans can live happier, longer lives by taking good care of themselves. "The Senior Citizens Council has attempted to honor oldsters year around," Jones continued, "and we would like to invite McHenry county residents to joins us in the month of May by stopping in one of our senior centers to say 'hello' and maybe have a cup of coffee and con­ versation to become more familiar with senior ac­ tivities." Linnea Oleson, nutrition project director for the council, has arranged for a special senior Sunday brunch to be held on Senior Citizens Day, which is May 20. "The brunch will be held in three or four centers," Ms. Oleson said. "As soon as all of the sites for the brunch have been confirmed, further in­ formation will be available through the centers, the office and local papers. Reservations for the brunch will be accepted after May 1 at all the centers and council office. "The Meet and Eat Program also initiated a pinochle tournament open to all seniors in the county for the month of May". Ms. Oleson continued. "All of the senior centers are par- ticiapting in the event. The Larry Meehans Choose Wauconda Home Mr. and Mrs. Larry Meehan have chosen Wauconda as the locale of their first home, following their April 28 wedding in St. Patrick's Catholic church, McHenry. The bride, the former Lynn LaMotta, is the daughter of Mrs. Louise LaMotta, 425 Dowell road, McHenry. Mrs. Kathleen Meehan, Cane street, McHenry, is the mother of the groom. Father Petit of St. Patrick's officiated at the 3 p.m. ceremony. "Ave Maria", "Hawaiian Wedding Song", "Because", "Panis Angelicus" and "Joyful, Joyful" were played by organist Toni Weaver and sung by Caroline Ritthaler. The bride's chosen attire was a bouffant style gown, done entirely in chantilly lace. It featured a scalloped neckline, and complementary tiered skirt, falling gracefully into a cathedral train. The matching veil featured three tiers, each edged in chantilly lace and secured by a juliet cap covered in matching lace. Scatterings of pearls and crystals accented the lace pattern of the entire outfit. Attending the bride as her maid of honor - was Cyndi Meehan. Bridesmaids were Sue Meehan, Karen Campion, Tammy Hampton, Kim Kattfen, Janine Pehlke and Kathy Robinson. Flower girls were Nancy Hanns, 6, and Heather Kathan, 3. Pete Meehan performed the duties of the best man. Groomsmen were David Meehan, Mark Campion, Kevin Heseman, Mike Welhelm, Merl Wilhelm and Bob Meehan. Ross LaMotta, 9, was the ring bearer. After the ceremony, a reception, attended by 200 guests, was held at the Moose Lodge, McHenry. The bride is a 1977 graduate of McHenry high school, and the groom graduated the same year from Wauconda. The bride is employed by Sun Electric, while the groom works as a carpenter for Mc- Cormick Place in Chicago. Communion Breakfast Locale Change For CDA 1232 N.
