Lysne, the commanding officer of one of the Navy's top reserve patrol squadrons (VP-60), is presently on active duty with his squadron at Lajes, Azores, Portugal. V P-60 won the Navy Reserve's coveted Noel Davis award, presented annually to the squadron which has' the highest levels of performance in operational tactics. Squadrons must score high in areas such as combat readiness, aircraft main­ tenance and availability, retention of personnel and professional proficiency. Lysne is an airlines pilot. Originally from Minnesota, he graduated from Crookston Cathedral high school in 1954 and from the University of North Dakota in 1958. He resides with his wife, Patricia Lou, in McHenry. He was commissioned an ensign in 1959 and a naval aviator the following year. He served with VP-28 from 1960- 1963 and then attended Naval Economical. Zimmerman, son of Charles W. and Darlene L. Zimmerman of 7423 Maple Drive, Wonder Lake, 111., has reported for duty with 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. A 1978 graduate of McHenry high school, he joined the Marine Corps in December, 1978. i Finishes Training PFC GERALD WILSON Marine Private First Class Gerald Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Wilson, of 509 S. River drive, McHerny, has recently completed recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, Cal. During the twelve week training cycle, Pfc. Wilson learned the basics of becoming a Marine. He was introduced to the typical daily routine that he will expereince during his enlistment, and studied per­ sonal and professional stan­ dards traditionally exhibited by Marines. He also participated in an active physical con­ ditioning program and gained proficiency in a variety of military skills, including first aid and close order drill Teamwork and self discipline were emphasized throughout the training cycle Jerry, a former student of McHenry high school, enlisted in the Marine Corps in February, 1978.
