Methodist Church Adds Alternate P.M. Service The First United Methodist church is adding an alternate worship service each Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m., beginning June 20. The informal service will be held in the church basement and will include a hymn sing, special music, and a Gospel message. Those who cannot attend Sunday morning services are encouraged to worship on Wednesday evenings. The summer schedule for church services on Sunday went into effect on June 10, and during the summer will be at 8 a.m. and 9:30a.m. The Sunday school is in recess until September. All are welcome at both the Sunday morning and Wednesday evening worship services. The Marcia Mary Ball circle of the First United Methodist church had its annual "Luncheon Out" at a local restaurant on June 5. The attendance was very good, and all enjoyed a delicious dinner, and visiting together. Some business was discussed during the visiting, and members were reminded of the annual circle picnic, which is scheduled for Tuesday, July 17 at Petersen park. This will be a catered picnic as usual, meaning all fun and no work! The "gals" were also reminded to get their White Elephants together, since this fun sale enriches the circle treasury. After the picnic, the circle will be in recess until Sept. 4; however many of the members will be busy working on bazaar projects at home during the summer. The bride's gown, designed and made by her mother, was of sheer peau de soie over bridal taffeta. The empire bodice featured a yoke of im ported reembroidered lace with hand sewn seed pearls. Crystal pleating and pearled lace formed a pinafore effect on the bodice. Her full bishop sleeves with deep cuffs and high neckline were also adorned with pearled lace and crystal pleating. An A-line skirt which fell into a chapel length was enhanced by a deep flounce of reembroidered lace with a scalloped edge. She chose a camelot headpiece of lace and pearls with a two-tiered veil edged in scalloped lace. Her bouquet was a cascade of or chids, pink roses, baby's breath and white carnations. She carried her grandmother's handkerchief, also carried by her mother on her wedding day. Maid of honor was Kim Jergens, Woodstock, a close friend. Bridesmaids were Cathy Lippert, sister of the bride; Robin Freund, sister-in- law, of Denver, Colo.; and Cindy Malinski of McHenry, a friend. Attendants gowns were styled with blouson tops and modified round necks, with slit cape sleeves and pleated skirts. The dresses were a bouquet of colors in primrose, seafoam green, Tahiti, and romance blue. Each carried a colonial bouquet of tinted carnations. "Butch"Hansen performed the duties of the best man. Groomsmen were Mike Freund, brother of the bride, Denver, Colo.; Norb Lippert, brother-in-law of the bride; and Melvin Leskowski, a friend of the groom, Ingleside. The bride's mother chose a pink qiana gown with an em broidered sheer bodice. An apricot colored formal with a sheer overlay was selected by the mother of the groom. After the wedding, the Johnsburg Community club was the setting for a reception at which 200 guests toasted the couple. The bride is a medical lab technician, having graduated from McHenry high school, Northern Illinois university, and Lake County college. STAFF PHOTO - WAYNE GAYLORD Community- Calendar permeating the atmosphere, the group whisked off to 3424 W. Skyway drive to continue an enthusiastic lawn party for this well loved McHenry resident. A neighbor and close friend, Bill Pictor, had been asked to research the family tree fairly closely and came up with an entertaining' discourse to present the many, varied events of a most unusual wife and mother. Since he had quizzed family members on personal memories and had studied the invited guest list, he was able to include enough incidents and people to con tinue the ever widening ties of friendship and love that so permeated the party. Tasty food and gifts topped off one more day in the life of Grace Thies O'Brien, whose good deeds are well known in the community. Her children are Rev. Charles O'Brien of St. Philip the Apostle in Northfield; William J. and Robert F. O'Brien of McHenry; James H.
