Hanahan described the Pope as "very down-to-earth" and said he speaks English fluently. In addition, Hanahan had the opportunity to observe the Italian election June 2 and 3. He said voting ages differ in Italy for various offices. An Italian must be 25 to vote for a Senate candidate, 21 to vote for a House candidate and 18 to vote for administrative offices.
