During the seven-week course, students received training which qualified them as light weapons infantrymen and as indirect fire crewmen in a rifle or mortar squad. Instruction included weapons qualifications, squad tactics, patrolling, landmine warfare, field communications and combat operations. Pvt. Stewart's father, Jimmy W. Ms. Johnson will be a senior at the Dubuque, Iowa, school this fall. President's scholarship, worth one-half tuition at UD, are awarded to high school seniors who are among the top students, academically and in extra-curricular activities, at their schools. Ms. Johnson's scholarship has been renewed because of her continued high academic achievement and involvement in extra­ curricular activities at UD, requirements of the scholar­ ship.
