Each couple has been asked to bring lawn chairs, their own meat, and a dish to pass. Club members on Stilling boulevard have offered to supply roast corn on the cob for the dinner. The club will use this occasion to give a hearty send off to two extremely active members who are moving away almost im mediately, Mrs. Borland and Elizabeth Loughan. The evening's festivities will begin at 5 p.m. with lawn games and sports. Contact Mrs. Ekstrom for more information. Other announcements about club activities include a women's bridge group meeting every other week in the evening; tenuis, Tuesday mornings in Petersen park; a babysitting cooperative; and a couples' gourmet dinner group which will resume in Sep tember. The next monthly meeting of the Newcomers club will take place Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal church off of Green stret in McHenry. Ginny Hanley of Crystal Lake will discuss in terior decorating. Visitors are especially welcome at this session as the club begins its fall membership drive. Membership chairman Nancy John will be leading this effort with the aid and cooperation of the members of the club. The next morning coffee will be held at Faith Presbyterian church, Lincoln and Chapel Hill roads, on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at9:30a.m. Babysitting will be available for a small fee. Mary GJelow is shown above at a surprise party given for her July 21 in honor of her eightieth birthday earlier this year. Her ninety- eight year young brother, Louis Klauser, is seated next to her, enjoying the celebration. After a delicious buffet, a beautiful cake was served. The cake decorations were carefully selected to reflect two of Mary's favorite pastimes, bingo and pinochle! Neighbors, friends and family greeted her with many "Remember When "tales. She received gifts of flowers, pictures and numerous other precious gifts. Mary is the mother of Harold and Fran Gielow and one daughter, Marie Herdrick; grandmother of nine; great- grandmotherof thirty; and great-great-grandmother of three. A "Remember When" eightieth birthday celebration for Mary Gielow took place July 21. The local lady was truly surprised because her real birthday was Feb. 15/ during the stormy winter. The biggest surprise was the arrival of Mary's brother, Louis Klauser, who will be ninety-eight in September.
