Vacation time is over and the children are back in school. Johnsburg students do have school. The weekend of Aug. 25 turned out to be quite a •weekend here in Sunnyside. The rescue squad held its an nual dnace The concert held by Bits & Pieces for its grand opening from all reports was a smashing success. Those who saw Dave "Elvis" Elhert perform were awed ,by his likeness to the late Elvis Presley. The Sunnyside police department was kept busy too. The crowd of around 400 that attended the concert was no problem. But during the con cert police anwered a call on a car that went into the channel at Channel Beach and River- view drive. The board signed the final plat for a new subdivision, Chapel Hill Oaks, that falls within the village lMs mile jurisdiction. The village will be accepting bids for snow removal for the winter of 79-80. The next meeting of the village will be held Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. at the Johnsburg junior high. Many of the boys from the area who bowled in the junior league last year are anxious to resume with the new season. The boys enjoyed last year including the banquet at the end of the season. NEW ARRIVAL On Sunday, Sept. 3, Lillian and John Pomonis, 1501 Rosemarie, became the proud parents of a little girl, Karen Marie. Karen is the fourth child for the Pomonises, and weighed 6 lbs., 14 oz., on arrival. Karen was born in the McHenry hospital, and on arrival home was greeted by brothers Keith and Nick, and sister Jenny. Lillian is ' the Sunnyside juvenile officer and husband, John, recently became a rookie on the Sunnyside police force. ANNIVERSARY - This week's anniversary couple are Cammie and Don Gaylord of Channel Beach drive. Their special day is Sept. 12. Best wishes for a happy day and many more happy years together. ACT Test At Marian departn ^Catholi The Guidance department at Marian Central^Catholic high school has announced the dates when the ACT test will be given during tie 1979-80 school year. The first test will be given on Oct. 20, with registration until Sept. 21. The second test date is Feb. 16, with registration from Nov. 26, through Jan. 18. The last test date is April 12, with registration running from Feb. 4, through 'Mar. 14. The total ACT Assessment program assists parents, students and school counselors in planning careers and post- secondary education. One portion of the program consists of basic information and a series of questions related to a student's interests, which, in turn, are correlated to possible job and career choices. The second portion of the program consists in a battery of tests in the areas of English, Mathematics, - Social Studies and Natural Sciences. It is advisable that * any student seriously planning a career and future educational development take the ACT Assessment program. The widely used program is recommended for use by student applicants at more than 2,700 colleges and universities.
