SECTION 2 - PAGE • • PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER It, 1978 Lakemoor-Lilymoor Margaret Karas 385-4934 Dredging Gets Financial Help •ZLsst Wednesday evening, Mr. Robert Prendergast of the McHenry Chamber of Com merce presented a check to the I41y Lake Conservation Club, Inc., in recognition of the club's effort to beautify, correct and protect Lily Lake. Just as the chamber states that McHenry is "The gateway to the Chain of Lakes Region", so the club's president, Bruno Karas, claims Lily Lake to be the eastern gateway to McHenry. Bob extended the chamber's sup port of the Conservation club's goal of returning Lily Lake to the recreational area it once was, by donating toward the fuel and maintenance costs of the dredging operation, the concern of McHenry business people is deeply appreciated, and hopefully will be an in spiration to others to help. Other business transacted at the meeting, attended by a small crowd of 13 people, was the solvency of the treasury, reported by George Kawell. Bills have been paid, with seed money for next month's ex penses, due to the fund raising efforts of the Bake sale and Tag day in McHenry under Mitzi Gurske, and the rummage sale held on Vicki DeStefani's property. Members and the community were thanked for their donations of money, time and energy. Mitzi Gurske was voted in as a new board member, JOHNF. LAMPE is pleased to announce the opening of his office for , GENERAL PRACTICE OF LAW AT 3424 W. Elm (Suite 27) 344-3252 OPEN M-F 8 am - 5 pm SAT. 8 am -1 pm Evenings by appt. replacing Bob Hurley who resigned for health reasons. Mitzi is a real catalyst, and has already-generated many ideas, and her enthusiasm and abilities are great. Of course, husband Skip must also be given some credit. Jerry Weber spoke of the discouragement of dredge breakdowns, and that only Dale Rasmus sen, Skip Gurske, Ross Curley and Jack Kretsch from Island Lake have given help on operating the dredge. There must be others over 21 years in our area who can give a few man hours to such a worthwhile conservation effort. Where are you? State help may be available to obtain workers for the dredge if the village of Lakemoor will make ap plication. Board members are checking into the legal ramifications. George Gar- bacz, chairman of the planning commission, and President Richard Hyatt, have stated their willingness to aid in any way except monetarily, as the dredging of Lily Lake is of definite advantage to Lakemoor residents. Other ideas were suggested for community involvement and the ever present need for raising thoney for insurance and operating costs. The quilt squares being embroidered, painted and appliqued are almost ready for the quilting bee to be held under designer Louise Hipwell's watchful eye. Also watch for Halloween plans. Anyone wishing in formation on the club's ac tivities call 385-4934. To help on the dredge, call 344-1955. I RESCUE CALL Little Lauren Blake was another recipient of the rescue squad's help on Tuesday, Sept. 11. Lauren was developing cold symptoms, so mother Patti gave her an aspirin, placing the bottle with its childproof. top closed, on the high kitchen counter. Patti left the room and later, with a mother's instinct for sounds, became aware of a stillness from the kitchen. Returning, she found Lauren happily injesting numerous aspirins, having climbed up on the stool and opened the aspirin bottle with the closure all adults have cussed at. The rescue squad \yas called, and also Grandmother Blake, who lives next door. Edith arrived first, and tried to induce vomiting by putting her finger down Lauren's throat. No success. The rescue squad came and on instructions from the hospital, gave liquid medication. No success. Lauren next drank a large glass of fruit juice, but still nothing came up. So the little girl and family were tran sported to the McHenry hospital. Just before reaching the hospital, Lauren cooperated, and the offending aspirins were regurgitated. Lauren was kept in Emergency for several hours and returned home to the loving care of parents Larry and Patti, two brothers, and very concerned grandparents, Edith and Wilfred Blake. Praise the Lord time, again. •f4 , 91 vt-w \os< r a°° m s. es V n(v \Yv< c ...on LUCITE Paint • • House BUILT-IN primer • DRIES IN AN HU UJ .UICITE . Wall Paint U. UJCITE mm . V WEDDING ATTENDANT Becky Huffman, daughter of Art and Prudie Huffman, was flower girl on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the wedding of her former baby sitter, Sue Findley of Ingelside; Becky was excited over being a member of the wedding party, but going to the beauty shop to have her hair done, was almost of more joyous anticipation. The wedding was in Grayslake, with the reception at the Johnsbiirg community hall. Becky was a happy addition to the celebration in her peach dress with lace top, and her basket of orange daisies. The Huffmans are also en joying the larger area of the residence they move.to in July. Robbie and Becky now have a full basement to play in, plus more room for Art and Prudie. The move did not require cross country movers, as it was practically across the street from their old residence on Southside. Glad that the Huff- mans decided to fetay in our community. His sister and two brothers jumped after him, and all landed safely in the proper circle except Scott, who couldn't find the airport. Bill thoroughly enjoyed the exhileration of floating down to earth, and hopes to return to Fort Wayne for a repeat performance. the "UFO" stands for ".Undaunted Fritzsches Overhead", so watch out below! The road to success is usually under construction. GOD BLESS Conservation Laws Governor James R. Thompson approved a number of con servation-related bills, in cluding a year-round coyote hunting season in the state. [Thompson said, "The coyote /population in Illinois is on the increase. Other approved items include limits on use of guns, dogs, or bows near dwellings, an increase in the sellers fee on hunting and fishing license, and a ban on carrying shotguns on boats in a conservation area during spring migration of waterfowl.
