In order to be eligible for this rank, girls must earn a minimum of six Cadette badges, in the areas of arts, citizenship, health and safety, home, international friendship and out of doors. In addition to this, girls are required to meet four challenges out of twelve. The traditional challenges are the challenge of active citizen, challenge of emergency preparedness, the challenge of social dependability and the challenge of the Girl Scout Promise. Upon completion of their requirements, the girls received letters of recognition from the President of the United States. I ' TAX FACTS | Tax practitioners and con sultants from McHenry county will be brought up to date on federal and state income tax rules and regulations during a two-day school, Nov. 15 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Old Towne hall, $4 Brink street, Crystal Lake. Special attention will be given to problem federal in come tax topics such as: "What's New"; procedural and processing matters; 1978 Revenue act; capital gains and losses; carryover basis; comprehensive urban and farm problems; tax problems; balance sheet preparation for the corporation and part-,, nership; pension and an nuities; tax principle review; and the 1979 Revenue act. The Farm Income Tax school is one of 24 offgred throughout the state by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension service. Dave Plocher, McHenry county Extension adviser, says the school is restricted to persons who prepare income tax returns for others. While generally oriented to preparing farm tax returns, the schools will also offer information relating to all types of income tax returns, Plocher adds. The Chicago and Springfield districts, Internal Revenue service and the Illinois department of Revenue are cooperating in presenting the schools.
