James Berg, vice-president of Residential Development Group, said that current plans are to open new models in Winding Creek sometime in the summer of 1980. According to Berg, the initial phases of Winding Creek will be single-family similar to Fox Ridge, while succeeding phases of the PUD will be done with other types of housing, both single-family and multi-family. The entire project will include approximately 1,203 units on 385 acres, which includes 50 acres set aside for parks and schools, area. and 8 acres of open .Development of Winding Creek is expected to be com pleted over a 12-year period. Since electrical power ^outages are usually few and far ^between, most people find thdm a minor inconvenience at most, •requiring use of flashlight, burning on a battery operated radio or readjusting our clocks. ' But for some - those who rely Bn. respirators, kidney dialysis units, iron lungs or other «lectrically operated medical ^devices for their well-being - <4t's urgent to get power ^restored as quickly as possible. ^ "That's why we maintain a special list of customers who ±have such machines in their omes," explained Anthony 7Enrietto, Commonwealth n's northern division vice- ident. "Should an elec- ical interruption occur af fecting one of these patients, we give that customer preferential treatment in restoring service and, in some cases,, may provide emergency power supply equipment." More than 400 customers in Edison's northern Illinois service territory have notified the company of their special needs. Edison records these customers' names, addresses and phone numbers, the transformer which services each home and the type of equipment used. "When a new name is added to our list, we'll send a representative to the home to find out what alternatives the customer may have in an emergency/" Enrielto said. "This way we can determine if a respirator, for example, can be run by batteries or operated manually, or if a portable device is available for use while the patient is temporarily relocated." Enrietto noted the company also marks its maps so that if an interruption occurs, Edison dispatchers know at a glance someone may be in trouble. Usually the company then calls to notify the patient how long the interruption is expected to last. These customers also receive a special phone number to call should an outage occur. In addition, the company affixes a distinctive tag to their meters to further ensure electric service is never shut off in tentionally at the meter. Enrietto suggested that those customers who use one of these devices or some other type of electrically operated equips ment for their well-being, even if only for a few hours a week,- rnotify their nearest EdWbn' J office. GUS DAVIS The appointment of Gus Davis as director of ' methods engineering has been an nounced by Intermatic, Inc., manufacturer of automatic timers, heaters and outdoor lighting at Spring Grove. Davis comes to Intermatic from AMF Paragon Electric, Two Rivers, Wis., where he was vice- president of manufacturing and manager of special projects. Reporting to George Purtha, Intermatic vice-president of budgets, Davis will be responsible for developing Intermatic cost cutting procedures and processes.
