They spoke about women's choice?, whether to workt>r not, and women who do not have choices, but are forced into the job market and may be un­ skilled. It was an interesting topic followed by questions and answers, and everyone ex­ pressed sincere appreciation for an enjoyable evening. Janet Cortez spoke about the book drive for the McHenry public 'library, children's section. The Illinois AAMA society's annual meeting, April 24, 25, 26 and 27, provides an opportunity for its membership, which is 1000 strdhg, to advance its knowledge through general educational sessions, workshops and presentations. CEU's (continuing education units) are awarded for many sessions. The AAMA is an educational organization of persons connected with the medical profession, including nursing and administrative staff. . STAFF PHOTO - WAYNE GAYLORD Family Diet Program Given For Homemakers • / V • At the October meeting of Home & Hearth Homemakers Extension unit, held in the home of Pat Attenson, "Weight Control For You And Your Family" was presented by Pat Strong. This was a very ex­ citing lesson with samples of foods a person could eat and still remain on a diet. Roll call was answered to "a problem I have identified in my community" with 7 members present and guests. Committee reports were given and an appreciation acknowledged for a 4-H plaque received during the fair. The Christmas party was then discussed with the idea of going out to dinner and a play. The Nov. meeting will be held in the home of Lois Jacobs with the lesson, "Investments For Middle Income", or, "Watch Your Mojiey Grow". Hold Building Benefit This year, the McHenry County Extension Service is moving into a permanent building of its own. The 12-hour dance-a-thon will begin on Saturday, Nov. 17, at 7 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. Sunday morning. The dance will be held in building "D" on the McHehry county fairgrounds. The 4-H program is one of the programs sponsored by the Cooperative Extension service and the members of the Har- tland Homemakers 4-H club are coordinating the dance-a- thon to raise money for their new home. Each dancer must obtain pledges and have an ac­ cumulated minimum per hour. A pre-registration form must be returned to the Extension office by Nov". 1 to participate. Pledge sheets and registration forms are available at the McHenry county Extension office, 789 McHenry avenue, P.O. Box 431, Woodstock, 111., 60098. The University of Illinois Extension Service in McHenry County serves all citizens. People from town and farm, village and city visit or call this extension of the expertise available at the Unversity of Illinois for help, without cost. VISITS HADASSAH Blossom Wohl„ instructor of English Literature at Elgin Community college, frequent visitor to Israel and a member of the Elgin chapter of Hadassah, will speak to Elgin Hadassah members on Mon­ day, Nov. 19, at the home of Sandi Perlman, 2264 Knollwood, Elgin. The meeting will begin promptly at noon. Blossom's topic will be "Life Style and Living Situations in Israel". A baby sitter will be available at this meeting if needed. What kinds of treatments should be given for head wounds, suspected poisonings, drownings, electric shocks? Parents will be trained to deal with these kinds of injuries in a first aid course sponsored by the Lamaze parent group. On Monday, Nov. 5, from 7:30-9:30, Doug Noe, a certified Red Cross instructor, will teach a basic first aid course at the Lamaze parents meeting. Those people who want to at­ tend the full eight hour course and receive Red Cross cer­ tification, can attend the other following Tuesday ana Wed­ nesday nights.
