• • • (with long time subscribers} ME. AND MRS. CHARLES VYCITAL Remembering when with the Vycitals-to the days long past when the only route to St. Mary's school was down Green street and around the eastern part of the Borden mill pond and the class of 1933 which had 33 graduates. Or the days when Route 120 had just been paved--the cement had just dried~and some friends took off on bikes all the way to Lily Lake. The Vycitals remembered the days of "Peggy" Felz the street sweeper, who pushed his cart, replete with game leg, cap and a dog trailing behind. The days when Jack Walsh was the only cop in town and there was no police car . Cherished memories include the days as a .young school teacher-janitor-furnace stoker for $675 a year, teaching all eight grades. Or working in a snow shovelling crew on Chapel Hill road for $.25 an hour and bringing your own shovel. The Vycitals enjoy reading the Plaindealer through, but Mr. Vycital particularly likes Twice Told Tales, the front page and the sports section. Faith Church Has Family Night Splintered family life due to four meetings on four different nights a week is a problem that faces many over the holidays. A task force formed from within Faith Presbyterian church has looked at that problem, and offered a solution. This money is to be used toward the purchase of pagers which are part of the squad's efforts to up-date its equipment for more effective operation. At the club's October meeting, Mr. Gust gave a very interesting and informative talk on the Rescue squad. They service an area of approximately 20,000 people and average about 900 calls a year. The Whispering Oaks Woman's club feels that this group of volunteers with no pay, who rely completely on donations, are to be highly complimented for their efforts.
