A task force of McHenry county health care officials, business executives and legislators met Oct. 24 at the Branded Steak House in Crystal Lake to map out final plans for a county-wide health screening program the week of Nov. 4. The screening will be carried out under the auspices of the McHenry County Health department, McHenry hospital, Woodstock Memorial hospital, Harvard hospital and Crystal Lake ambutal. To facilitate access of county residents to these screening services, a mobile screening van will be available. Taks force members ap proved a plan to extend the county's existing diabetes detection program and to in clude hypertension screening. These tests will be conducted at each of the van's scheduled stops during the week, using technicians supplied by the participating health care facilities. In addition to the testing, the program will provide nutritional experts for counseling on diet and lifestyle. "We have had a highly- successful diabetes detection program in McHenry county for four years, working through our health care facilities. By mobilizing our efforts through use of the van, we're adding an extra dimension to the screening program. Each of the participating health care facilities will select testing AT. sites within their primary catae areas. This will be especially helpful to non-drivers, senttr citizens, and other reside^ who would find it inconvenieijfl to drive long distances." <jb; served Edward F.
