One of the questions everyone needs an swered before borrowing money is, "Can I afford the loan?". Unfortunately, ther£ are no hard and fast answers. Everyone's situation is different. Different needs ... dif ferent abilities to repay. We realize and appreciate the differences and work hard to train all loan officers to be able to respond to in dividual needs and situations. There are, however, some guidelines that may be useful for general financial planning. One of the yardstick measurements used by credit advisors around the country suggests that consumer debt '(not counting home mortgage payments or rent) equal to ten percent or less of take- home pay is generally comfortable to handle. They say it's possible but sometimes difficult at a level of fifteen percent and warn that a level of 20 percent or higher is dangerous. Certainly there are exceptions on both ends of the scale and to know exactly what may be right for you is between you and your banker. This is one of the primary reasons personal attention and personal service will never be ignored as part of a professional bank's responsibility to its customers. -- W1I w life.
