Warriors Return To Conference Play At Woodstock Tonight The McHenry Warriors resume Fox N Valley play tonight when they journey to Woodstock to take on the "'Blue Streaks. The Streaks under new coach Doug Hallpenny are having their troubles this year winning only once, beating Cary Grove by 10 pts., in the Wheeling tourney. Clary had defeated the Streaks in conference play earlier 80 to 69. Playing without the services of Mike Nelson, who was injured in football, the Streaks boast no lettermen on their squad. Players who will see ac tion are seniors Mike Peters, Jim Limbaugh, Randy Hutter and Brett TVtHWsnn along with junior Scott Ritzert who make up the starting five./ The Warriors, fresh from a second place in the Elgin tourney, are anxious to get back into conference play where they have dropped their last two encounters, to Crystal Lake South and Dundee. With both of these teams undefeated in Fox Valley play, the Warriors cannot afford to take the Streaks too lightly. To keep their title chances alive this has to be a must game for the Warriors. The sophomores get under way at 6:30 with the varsity at 8 p.m. V Ringwood News 385-8037 653-9262 728-0343 Meeting Set The first meeting of the new year for Ringwood United Methodist Women, will be held in the home of president, Alice Peet Thursday, Jan. 10, at 12:30 p.m. This will be an informal planning meeting and all the ladies are requested to at tend and bring suggestions or ideas for the coming year. Bofs 205 * Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014 •(815)459-2641 By Kathleen Thaye The first meeting of the Helping Paws Boarjl of Directors for the new (year will be held Jan. 16, a I 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend at the office ana store- combination, 465 Vfginia street, route 14. Several problems are facing HP, The first, of course, is growth. HP needs a bigger place in Which to house a store, off/ce and mini-shelter. So fari, no one in any community vfithin the county has offered/any help at all; not financial, and not ideas. If HP had a great deal of money, there would be no need for ideas, HP could simply go out and get anything needed. Such is not the case. The next problem is what to do to make the Lake in the Hills residents aware of the seriousness of their- com munity pet killer problem. HP must aid them in every way. Lake in ;he Hills police made it clear that they would onlj pursue the matter if coicrete evidence was brought to them. How HP can do this will be under discussion at the meeting. Perhaps the killer himself will be curious enough to attend; his attendance is welcome. Also under discussion will be the Feb. 38 bazaar at the Crystal Point mall. HP will need^suggestions and physical help. Please call, or come to the meeting and participate in the fun. will be included in next week's column. Another coincidence? The racoon was saved and presently is being nursed back to health by Sally Joosten, area wiid life ex pert.
