IWl McCullom Lake Mary Jo Farrell 344-1575 Plan To Visit fishing Derby •f The annual Ice(less) Fishing Derby will be held, (ice or no ice) Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan 13. „ The Beach Gals will supply food and drink in large Quantities, so come and fish, through the ice or any other way necessary. The McCullom Lake Conservation club, sponsors of the event, are going to be there, all set up for a large crowd of fishermen and fisherladies. Anyone not having a fishing license, can buy one at one of the booths at the derby. >' BEACH GALS « The Beach Gals' answer to ihe spring clean-up will happen Saturday, May 17, in the form of a bake sale and hea market. The village jnay not shed much junk Collectively, but if some of it can change hands, well...you know what they say about $ome people's junk being £^neone else's treasure. * ^Table space will be~ Available from the Beach pals for a nominal fee, so that individuals can sell iheir own wares. * The Beach Gals will have baked goods available for Eurchase to munch on while rowsing and to take home. Z Start collecting used treasures now, put them in a special palce, and save them lor the big day, May 17. J CELEBRATIONS I Two birthday boys, each a lender, young, one year old, celebrated birthdays in the last week or so, and were leted with parties. I Anthony Brancheau celebrated Jan. 5 with a party at the Brancheau home, attendee^ by Diana pGates, Rachel Klapperich, and a few adults. It was a huge success. Tommy Farrell also celebrated Dec. 29, with a rip-roaring party at a very Special ice cream parlor which bears the same last name as his. Honored guests tyere Tommy's mom and dad, sister Megan, grandpa aftd grandma, George an<k, Ginny Farrell of Cary, and aunt, Chris* Farrell, also of Cary. To the sound of drum rolls and fire engine sirens, Tommy dug into an ice cream sundae (his first), and proceeded to have a terrific time opening many , gifts. ' BABY BOOM From the looks of some of the ladies of the village, <ladies-in-waiting, that is), there seems to be another baby boom striking our village. New arrivals ex pected in the winter-spring Jhclude visitors at the Behrendt homestead in February, the Brancheau fiome in April, the Curran ranch in May, and the Lasco residence in June. Happy times coming for some special folks. passed away at home the day after Christmas. Donald had many friends ..and relatives who will miss him. Our condolences to his family. GOOD WORK ! Kathy Bitterman par ticipated in field hockey this year for the third year in a row, and received a plaque for her achievements. Dan Bitterman also has something to be proud of this year. He decided that he was going to have skis this year, come snow or no snow, so he set to work doing jobs here and there to make money to buy them. His parents can be very proud that Dan finished his task, met his goal, and has his skis! Nice work, Dan! GET WELL SOON ^One villager and a former village resident are both recuperating from bouts with ill health, and we hope they will both be better soon. Local representatives of the Bureau of the Census will conduct a survey of em ployment in this area during the work week of Jan. 14-18, Stanley D. Moore, director of the Bureau's Regional office in Chicago, has announced. The survey is conducted ,for the U.S. Department of Labor in a scientifically designed sample of ap proximately 84,000 households throughout the United States. Employment and unemployment statistics based on results of this survey are used to provide a continuing measure of the economic health of the Nation. For.: example, in November the survey in dicated that of the 103.7 million men and women in the civilian labor force, 97.6 million were employed. The jobless rate has fluctuated between 5.6 and 6.0 percent for more than a year.
