The presents...those magical wonderous boxes found under the tree are but a pile ofc rum pled tissue paper and squashed bows... their contents strewn across the house. Yes, the magic is gone but the memories linger on. Yesterday I ran after the dog, who was tossing the new doll in the air, tripped over the Tonka truck, scraping my toe open, and landed in the middle of a pile of little people. I decided it was time to have a cup of tea and count my blessings. One of my small blessings was the feeling of satisfaction gained last year by finally calling Helping Paws to do something for animals. Placing the collection cans in town was an easy thing, really, and it was rewarding to find out there were so many people who were supportive of the group. The cans brought in hundreds of much-needed dollars for the animals, and this method of raising funds will be used again. Also, HP hopes anyone who found a "bit-o-the green" in stockings, and wants to share it with homeless furry friends, will send donations to Helping Paws' office in Crystal Lake. , The adoption fee includes the cost of the surgery if performed by a vet of HP's choice. However, if surgery is performed by a vet of your choice, a deduction will be made from the orginiaf total cost. The adoption fee remains the same whether the pet has already been neutered, or not. Adoption fees are collected at the office only. The ex­ ception is if a pet is listed for adoption by a foster home. In this case, the fee is accepted by the foster parent.
