FEBRUARY U - Marriage Encounter- Community night, 7:45 p.m.- Mother And Daughters Carried Handkerchief As Beth Louise Nell was escorted by her father down th'e^aisle of St. Maf-y qf the Assumption Catholic church Jan 5, to become the bride of Robert Staley, of Sycamore, 111., she was carrying a handkerchief carried by her own mother on her wedding day, and also by her two sisters on their weeding day. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Nell, Jr., 1710 N. Court street, McHenry. Mrs. David Walsh, McHenry, and Mr. Jack Staley, Car- pentersville, 111., are the parents of the bridegroom. Reverend James Gaynor officiated at the 2:30 p.m. celebration, Tim Harrison, McHenry, was the lector; readings during the Mass were by the bride's father and Tom Franklin, uncle and godfather of the groom and Celeste Mann played the organ. Special songs chosen were "If" and "Evergreen" performed before Mass and "The Wedding March", "Love One Another", "Prayer of St. Francis" and "Ave Maria", during the ceremony. Celeste Mann and Mary Jean Smolzer were the soloists, providing their ow^ guitar accompaniment. Bows adorned the family pews, and poinsettias and Christmas greens decorated the church and th£ altar. The bride was attired in a gown of ivory satin, with a Queen Ann neckline, fitted bodice and sheer long sleeves of delicate re- embroidered Alencon lace. The A-lineukirt flowed from an empire waist, with Alencon lace appliques on the front of the skirt and also on the attached cathedral train. Her headpiece was a hat covered in matching ivory Alencon lace,, with an up-turned brim in back, from which a magnificent spill of floor length point d'espit veiling was attached. Hand crocheted gloves acquired by the bride.while a student in Chartres, France, and a single strand of pearls belonging, to her late grandmother, Clara Nell, completed the picture. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, stephonotis, baby's breath and ivy. -Mrs. Jessica Smith, sister of the bride, was the Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Cindy Oeffling, sister of the bride; Ms. Jaye Shap- pert, friend of the bride; Ms. Jackie Staley, sister of the groom and Ms. Charlene Weingart, friend of the bride. All are of McHenry. Attendants wore copper colored dresses of crepe backed satin, with a blouson bodice, bishop sleeves, slim A-line skirt with a slit on the side and a sashed belt. Half- hats of matching fabric, with bow loops on the side adorned their heads, and they carried a cascade of large rust colored daisy mums, accented with dried foliage. William Staley, McHenry, brother of the groom, per­ formed the duties of best man. Groomsmen were all friends of the groom; Kevin .Weiss, Maitland, Fla.; John Weber, McHenry; Bruce Crafts, Wonder Lake and Robert Morsette, McHenry. The mother of the bride chose a two-piece taupe floor length gown with pleated skirt and lace bodice, chiffon sleeves ar\d lace jacket, matching accessories and a cymbidium corsage The groom's mother wore a one- piece floor length gown with a brown and silver metalic long sleeve top and a brown jersey straight skirt, mat­ ching accessories and a cymbidium corsage. Immediately following the ceremony, a candle-light dinner was served to 185 guests at the Johnsburg Community club. The couple will be residing in Sycamore after a wedding trip to New Orleans, La. Both the bride and groom are graduates of McHenry high school, and also at­ tended the Illinois State university. They are presently enrolled at Nor­ thern Illinois university. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the mother of the groom, in her home. Club Offers New Ideas Have the Christmas toys lost appeal? She will demonstrate games, crafts and projects which are designed with learning and fun in mind. Ms. An­ derson claims they are guaranteed to provide an exciting alternative to TV. The program will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at the MCC Drop in Center in the Presbyterian church in Ridgefield (bet­ ween Woodstock and Crystal Lake on Ridgefipld road) at 8505 Church street. The McHenry County Lamaze Parent group is affiliated with ASPO, a n a t i o n a l L a m a z e organization for doctors, nurses, midwives, teachers and parents. The parent group sponsors educational and social activities for their members. Future meetings include a fun action-Valentine party and seminar on toilet training, in February; programs on "How to participate in your own Health Care" and "Medical Concerns of "Women", in March.
