/ ) Remembering When. . (with long time subscribers) MRS. LISLE BASSETT Mrs. lisle Bassett came to McHenry 45 years ago from Houston, Tex. to marry.v Ironically, she has had relatives in the McHenry area since 1836. "This was such a sleepy little town compared to Houston which had a population of 100,000 people then," she said. "Getting used to the country life was one of the hardest things to do," she added. < "My husband's father," Mrs. Bassett said, "was postmaster of the ,̂ est McHenry post office for some 35 years - from Roosevelt to Roosevelt." Lately, Mrs. Bassett has been active putting together a family tree and she credits the Plaindealer, especially Twice Told Tales, with helping her out. For the most part, however, Mrs. Lisle Bassett said she starts reading the front page and^gbes straight through to the back. PAGE 3 - PLAINDEALER - TODAY.
