The, Family - Night program is designed for the whole family and will feature these courses: The Meaning of Death and Dying, Puppets and Pup­ petry, Banner Making, Crochet, Beginning Elec­ tricity for Children, and Family Games (Checkers, Backgammon, Scrabble etc.) In addition, an exercise course is offered, as well as guitar lessons for young and old. The Family Night program was designed so that whole families may participate in an activity together. The committee that designed the program included the Rev. Eric J. The entire McHenry community is invited. INMATES RELEASED / Gayle M. Franzen, Illinois Department of Corrections director, last week an­ nounced the release of 114 inmates from state prisons^ and 32 inmates from com-4 munity correctional centers. The action stems from a recent Illinois # Supreme Court decision which ruled the department was in error in interpreting the good conduct credit provisions of the Class X legislation, ef­ fective Feb. l", 1978. The department had maintained that individuals serving terms under the prior law were not entitled to receive these credits. Further releases are expected when t h e d e p a r t m e n t ' s recalculations of sentences are completed. Vocation Scholarship Awards Now Available At the District 644 con­ ference of Rotary In­ ternational which includes 42 Rotary clubs in suburban north, northwest and west of Chicago, a resolution was passed which established five annual scholarships of up to $1,000 each in the field of vocational training. These awards may not be used toward any bac­ calaureate degree, but for a vocational or technical training program. Cer­ tificate programs in com­ munity colleges, secretarial schools and trade schools qualify for this new in­ novative program. Award money may be used for tuition, fees, books and supplies. The candidate must be a high school graduate and reside within the boundaries of the sponsoring Rotary club. Completed ap­ plications must be in the hand of the McHenry Rotary club by March 8 to qualify for the 1980 awards. Applications are available from the Rotary club of McHenry, P.O.
