Registrations are now being taken. In a show of support for the "total" or "holistic" ap­ proach to health, the Lake Region YMCA is offering a class for women. In­ creasingly over the past few years, there has been a growing focus on the whole person as opposed to only one aspect of the person's life, such as proper exercise, as a starting place toward physical and mental well- being. # The class, entitled Sense of Self, is desinged to meet those needs. Many women today are examining their lives and the roles they play. They see aspects of their, lives which are totally satisfying and other aspects they would very much like to change. The support which is needed for this personal growth often comes from family and-or friends. Sometimes for various reasons, there is a lack of that needed support. Women in this class will be abler toLget together with other wpmen to share ideas and feelings and to get constructive feedback. Over 2,000 police officers from around the country applied for^this special school. Of that number, fifty were chosen and Sunnyside's two fine police officers were among the fifty. This is quite an honor for our police department and it shows the high quality of officers we have. Congratulations to Donna and Fred. On Dec. 21, Chief Mitchell graduated from the Illinois Police Training Institute with a degree in police training. Officers Fred Rau and Rick Lindley recently attended a school on auto theft. Our police department, in a constant effort to better the force and the quality of the department, are attending training schools whenever possible. VILLAGE MEETING The regular monthly meeting of the village was held Tuesday Jan. 8. This was the first meeting of the new year and a number of items were discussed. Signs have been ordered and will be posted shortly, for the new parking or­ dinance. Cars parked on the street during the hours of 2 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be ticketed. Because the meeting was held late in the month, there will be only one for the village in. January. The next regularlyscheduled meeting will be held Tuesday Feb. 5, at the Johnsburg Junior high. VEHICLE STICKERS The sale of vehicle tags has been very slow to date. All vehicles registered to residents of the village must display a village sticker. Failure to do so will result in a ticket and a fine. Feb. 15 is the deadline for obtaining the current sticker, andP they are available from the village clerk, Betty Messer, 1405 Bayview lane. JANUARY 16,1980 Mental Health Assign Long Term Care To Two Centers FUTURE OF ILLINOIS The Task Force on the Future of Illinois recently released its Summary Final report which lists a series of goals and recommendations on economic development, natural resources and energy, human services and government. According to the Task Force, a 17- member legislative com­ mission created under Public Act 80-1046, for a better future Illinois must attract private investment, maintain older established communities, restore the transportation system, adjust to energy shortages, protect farmland, preserve natural and cultural heritage, confront "un­ derclass" problems, and improve state government's capacity to make wise choices for the future. Elgin and Manteno mental health centers have been given responsibility for treatment of long term (90- days or more of inpatient treatment) care of mentally ill citizens in Region 2, the Chicago metropolitan area, by Robert A. deVito, M.D;< Director of the Illinois Department of Mental' Health and Developmental Disabilities. Region 2 includes Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, Will and Kankakee counties. The change in depart­ mental policy, which is ef­ fective Feb. 1, is the result of a task team study of the Manteno Mental Health center and subsequent reorganizational plans for that facility which were initiated by Director deVito. ' The eight sub-regions of Region 2 will be divided equally h«*tw#»pr> two facilities, with clients from the northern half of the region being assigned to Elgin MHC and those from the southern half assigned to Manteno MHC- The actual number of patients to be transferred from Manteno to Elgin has yet to be established pending clinical evaluation of each individual involved.
